the day som1 create a homebrew game with virus, is the day homebrew will fall... and i got a feeling SONY will do just that for this kind of activity, its one of the dirty things big companies do.. to control their products.. just like Microsoft Windows does.. so stick to the rules b4 you got served...

Believe me... 2hrs of surfing and i still got 50% batt life... Try it! OOpps sorry.. ur still having the old ver in ur psp... unlucky then.. Its possible having virus in homebrew.. Sony might just do it.. reasons..
1-Its illegal therefore your at ur own risk of corrupting ur PSP, Sony will not hold any responsibility for this.
2-Sony knows if u destroy ur PSP, you would buy another one, that will increase pontential profits.
3-Sony created PSP therfore they know very single holes and loops and therefore knows how to currupt one PSP.
4-With reasons from 1, 2 & 3 = Deploy virus
So one day you'll see a homebrew game such as Tekken or FF7 or MP3 player.... by this guy so and so who created it... get all exicited next thing you know, ur PSP shuts down, showing nothing.. just like homebrews ITS nothing.. Oh well, sooner or later u guys gonna upgrade anyway.. when new games arrive with the need of Ver2.0.. so have fun till then.. |

@02 Somehow I dont see Sony risking it and making homebrew games with a virus, for the reason that alot of applications will be released soon for use on the memory stick and 3rd party companies will be supplying them licensed from Sony....now lets say for example:
The Game has downloadable content available for the psp on its website incl movie trailers and trial games which are meant to run of the memory stick..you download it and somehow it gets corrupt on the way down..you install it and poof...its all gone willy wonka..who is to blame then? Guess what your PSP will need to be repaired rightly so and there is a good chance it wil still be under the 1 year guarantee.
Yes I am sure we will need to upgrade to V2 someday and that day will be when HB is available, I dont condone piracy in anyway and truthfully I actually buy the games I have as HB for the reason its easier to move around with them on a Duo than UMD.

@themarques
well u did say licensed by SONY... thus then if any curruption occur then u can get it with warranty... as they are responsible for it. But now no homebrew in licensed by SONY.. so no warranty... you cant throw and damage your 1 year warranty PSP and ask for warranty replacement.. it doesnt work that way..
i assume u read my statement wrong... when i say that SONY will create a homebrew game with virus... i didnt mean they will officially state it from SONY... They will post it in one of the websites such as pspcrazy.com and just state if from this guys so and so, its like a backdoor to scare away users to not use unlicensed homebrews. get wat im saying...

@02 I understood your message properly but you probably missed my point, what I am basically trying to say is ok so you bust your PSP with a virused up HB, fine you dont need to cry over spilt milk...just send it in for repair and when they ask you what happened you say well I downloaded this game from "THE GAME" and when I tried to boot it my PSP went dead...
They not really going to question you further for the reason that it makes no sense for them to piss customers off..remember the old saying The Customer is Always Right..and the power of a customer is gold. And Sony hate bad publicity..so trust me if you ever see a Virus for HB it's coming from some idiot not associated with the big boys...some 12 year old kid in his room who like terrorists have nothing better to do.

downgrade patch? doubt it... also I heard it was fake.
guys/gals if you upgrade to 2.0 you will loose so much... not really worth it for a browser..
The list of Apps, games, hacks, emulators and loaders out there for 1.5 is sweet! too big to list... and its only gonna get bigger!
upgrade only if you want to loose it all.
I think if sony were to release a secret homebrew virus only a few psp's would be affected. once the site knows its a virus it will be posted in the forums...everyone will know... and I doubt any site will host the dam thing for long...
(I also doubt sony would even bother with a h/b virus..)

Well i've updated to 2.0 and have just been playing Homebrew Games!
Tetris, Pong, Chess, BattleShip, Minesweeper
Only simple games but its a start.
Check out http://www.pspcrazy.com/ for the details.
Basically its a little web portal that uses the java games.
You don't need an internet connection as it runs from the MS DUO
