Have to say with what i have read about changing the sms tone using setool, (imho) it sounds rather dodgy, to attempt if you haven't read as much about it a possible, or been advised by someone that has used it successfully.

I would rather wait for a firmware update although i would be very supprised if made this option available, if they were going to do this, surely they would've done it already ? There's been loads written about this subject, it's a shame that they don't take a lot of notice and do what the majority would like to see happen.

I believe you can have whatever you want as an sms tone on the p900/910 so unlike the p series phones the K700 is aimed at a larger market sector, that with standard tones, is easily recognisable as a and therfore a clever way for them to advertise/brand their phone ?

Unlike nokia's, there is no specific sms tone recogniseable as SE. :-(

I would have to disagree with that gov, although changed slightly from my t610, the tones are fundamentally the same, and each one is recognisable, yes ok not as reconisable as a nokia and a great improvement on nokia's standard 'beep beep' but nevertheless you can tell tell it's an a mile off with anyone of my 6 tones being used.

@checho5123

I don't recommend you to do it! I cannot help you (you will blame me if something goes wrong)! It was a piece of cake to do it! I have very cool sms sounds right now (remember that there is two sms sounds for each one; one that plays in the ear speaker and one that plays in the back speaker. So you need the same sound in BOTH amr and mid format).

I can't explain more than the above since I don't recommend you to do it. If someone wants to do it, here's a link where the subject started and how it progressed from getting ridd of the camera sound completely to changing sms sounds.

Remember: I didn't care if my phone was totally destroyed! Do you?

Good luck!

2 questions:
-amr are like wav and mp3 means true music or software instruments like midis?
-changing a sms tone via setool will cost 1 unit or it's free?
DSS25 is compatible with setool?

@vegetaleb

An amr file can hold true music, correct. But the amr file only plays in the ear speaker (while talking on the phone while recieving an sms). You also need to replace the corresponding midi file so the new sound also plays in the back speaker (while not talking on the phone when the sms arrives). This midi file cannot, as most people know, hold anything else than instrumental tones. So, no true tones for the back speaker at all, only in the ear speaker!

Cheanging sms sound cost you one credit, yes. But the script can hold as many commands as you want, so make sure everything is loaded at once - that way it will be as cheap as possible.

You cannot use DSS-25 for this!
