hi could anyone help me with my k700i, every time i put a sim card in it says "inactive sim" (only an orange sim as is locked to orange) does this mean the phone is blocked and is there any way of un-blocking it?? any help much appriciated.
Cheers ppl!

I would speak to your service provider as this sim sounds like it needs to be activated.

the sim is no use to me, i got the phone from a friend who says the phone itself may be blocked, any ideas?
Thanks for the quick reply

no worries...welcome to esato

if the imei code has been blocked then you won't be able to use until unblocked.

My phone number was blocked a couple of weeks ago by mistake and had to get my service provider to unblock it (their mistake in the first place) and instead of confirming my service provider it said 'inactive sim'. can you try another sim from a mates phone, providing you use an orange sim,if the phones ok ,it will work. If the phone still doesn't work and you know you have a good sim in it then you will have to look into having it unblocked.

i tried using a different orange sim and it still displays "sim inactive" so im gusing it will need un-blocking, do you know the usual charge for phone un-blocking?

Thanks for the help

I't might be illegal if the phone is blocked.

Agree^^^^ I was getting to that next It would be illegal if the phone was stolen as it would've been blocked when someone reported it missing.

My daughters t610 was recently stolen and i had the phones imei blocked rendering it useless, (unless the culprit found somewhere to get it unblocked).

So the next thing really is to check the source of the phone. If all above board then you can speak to orange and get them to unblock it. If it isn't then you have a problem.

may be there is a sim lock and the phone may accept only one sim.

What do SE phones say for SIM locked phones.

Over here in Australia Vodafone used to SIM Lock their phones so you could only use that one SIM.

Could it be that?

@nashy

Could be, my first thoughts were it was a sim problem too. I can't speak for orange but I'm on vodaphone. I gave my T610 to my daughter and we put a pay as you go sim straight in with no problems.

hi ppl ive since spoke to a mate who i got the phone from who says he had lost it so got the IMEI blocked, they sent him a new phone as he is on contract then the old phone was recovered, so this phone has its IMEI blocked, can this be un-blocked or am i just wasting my time with the phone?

Cheers ppl

Have to say tho (and I'm no legal expert) that as the phone has been reported missing I would've thought it is the the property of the insurance company that replaced your mates phone.

It's up to you but if it were me I wouldn't touch it with a bargepole !

I did a quick search and found a thread discussing the sort of things you are asking, and put the link below, if you require further info then you will probably find plenty using the search function.

@marlonski, you have a daughter? :eek: @stolen phones are bad. If they are registered on the network, except cops soon. Personally, sell it or give it back to the bloke who have you the phone and get another one.

Yes mate, I'm bit of an old boy really am proud to say that I have two daughters. Both have birthdays in Feb, my youngest will be 9 and the eldest 12. Going to give me lots of problems when they start bringing boyfriends home...

When I got my K700 I gave the eldest my T610, which was stolen a couple of weeks ago, whilst she was competing in a competition. Luckily my home insurance covered the loss and it has been replaced already Got her a body glove to keep it i mint condition and it seems to be working at the mo

@marlonski, nice. :-) hope they know as much about SE phones as you do. :-) @stolen phones are a real head ache and sometimes the cops even recover quite a few of them.

@gov, that wouldn't be a lot then

Yes stolen phones are a pain dude, it's the fact that kids/people in general have to be subjected to this sort of thing that upsets me. Of course no one likes loosing their property, but it can be replaced at some point, the heartache it can cause having someone violate you (which is what is really is) is much worse me thinks.
