I just bought a generic USB cable (USB Data Cable, K700 Series) and i can't get it to detect my t230.

I have searched the forums and applied all the port settings etc.. and it seems that my best bet is to try and update the cable driver. I am running xp. However, http://tech.prolific.com.tw is giving me "Connection refused". Does anyone have a mirror of a recent driver version? Also, are the DCU-11 drivers of any worth to me in this situation?

Versions I have tried:
- DCU-11 drivers install ok and appear to work ok in Device Manager but phone monitor and FMA don't detect anything
- I have a couple of exe's named PL-2303 Driver Installer1.exe and PL-2303 Driver Installer2.exe. They seem to install ok, but i don't even know if they do anything
- a few different drivers in zips with names like wd_pl2303_v1.5.0.0. These do not install. When you try to install them through Hardware Update Wizard i get the dialog "The specified location does not contain information about your hardware" *edit - changing the PID in the inf files to PID_1234 allowed me to install them but no dice, it just appears to work like the proper DCU-11 driver.

Ok, prolific site back up, got the latest drivers, i can get send file to say "no response from the device" rather than "cannot open COM port" i had earlier

I've switched to Windows Xp 64bit edition and when I'm inserting my cable into USB my device installer popups and tells me that it could not install. Can anyone tell where to get a USB cable driver for t610, it would be cool if it was for windows XP 64bit EDition.

I thought that it is unnecessary to start a new topic that is about the same thing. So...

I FIXED THE PROBLEM!
I opened up the box on the cable and found the chip version was pl-2303HX. got the drivers for it and that didnt work. At this stage i was desparate, and i found on the Prolific site an EEPROM writer, so i tried changing the PID to 2303 from its original 1234. didnt work. then i accidentaly hit the "writer default" button. it went through and changed a bunch of the eeprom settings and now it works perfectly! I didnt bloody beleive it. Anyway, if anyone with the same problem wants to give it a shot, here is the eeprom writer:

I have the same problem and the same cable. The cable works with fma but didn't with SE software.

If someone have the eeprom writer, please write me at enxox@libero.it

thanks

to work with SE software, you need to enable the COM port in Phone Monitor Options under Control Panel.

I made it but with no result. The SE software dind't work (it worked with a t610 of a friend of mine....)

It doesn't recognize the phone. Only if I close fma and start the connection wizard it "find" the phone but nothing else.

I have the same problem with USB IrDa adapter on PL-2303hx chip. This adapter lost his PID and now look as PL-2303, instead of USB IrDa.

If someone have the eeprom writer, please write me at pspk@mail.ru

thanks
