Mik's Guide to Unsuccessful Threads!! :(

Click to view updated thread with images

Posted by MikLSP
I seem to have the uncanny ability to start threads that get few or no replies
I don't know how I do it but just a natural ability I guess!

My theory is that I must ask questions that people either:
A- don't know the answer to OR
B- don't care about or find very boring

Alternatively maybe nobody likes me & ignores my threads!! Boo-hoo!!
See if I care!!

So anyone who feels the uncontrollable urge to start a cr@ppy thread follow my lead

(This is just a bit of fun, can u tell I'm bored?)

Posted by BobaFett
did u make thoughts what could b wrong? maybe u dont touch d right theme. i sent almost 300 post, thats a very nice result in my eyes.

Posted by kev.morris
I dont know what the answer to your question so i shall not bother to reply

Posted by Vlammetje
i will bear that in mind.... for the very few threads I ever initiate.... to avoid your tips

Posted by masseur
@MikLSP, looks like you are on your way to your most successful thread ever, its just a shame it in garbage

(and no, I didn't put it here!)

Posted by Vlammetje
maybe he opened it here?

Why yes I did!

But if this is successful I must have lost my knack for bad threads!! Is that a good or bad thing?

Posted by kev.morris
If this thread is succesful, doesnt it prove you have a knack for bad threads???

@miklsp - Welcome to the Club ! Will you assume the CEO's position then? I can be your COO if you like. We can make this thread a worthwhile place for others to stay as well . . .

Posted by snap-hiss
I've created a few of those.

Sod's law that this thread about crating crappy threads which attract little or no interest, turns out to be the one which goes on, and on, and on...

Posted by MikLSP
@ jojo
Sounds a good idea to me, this could actually become a great thread!!!!
Well maybe just a good one but u never know!

@ Red_Five
Hopefully it will & people can come here for consolation after creating a real dud!

Now based on the relative success of this thread (note RELATIVE!) here are some of my recent spectacular failures!!
Take notes everyone!

This one got 2 replies & one of those was me!
http://www.esato.com/board/viewtopic.php?topic=51626

and this one got a thrilling 0! Yes that's ZERO. A real Master-Class

I have an answer to that last one but I can't post it as it would ruin the '0-reply' status

Posted by MikLSP

u can't ruin the '0'!!
Well u can if u want or just reply here or PM. Or shall I just guess at the answer.....
is it.....No!

Posted by Vlammetje
The way I see it, 'My friends' is an "IM option using a buddylist made out of your phonebook" which needs to be supported by your network. I have little hope that at this time it woud be compatible...... however i would definitely think (this may be wishful thinking ) that in the future, as the technology spreads, more different apps and providers will be cross-compatible.

Posted by MikLSP

OH NO!!!
My knack seems to have spread to my posts too!
Yesterday I had made 298 posts, today I have 296 and that's after making 3 this morning
I should have over 300 now!
Where did they go

It's a conspiracy!!!
IT'S ALL A CONSPIRACY!!
YOU'RE ALL AGAINST ME!!

Posted by Vlammetje
Actually... everything not posted in the related part of the forum (the top half) is taken out of the count overnight.

This should be plastered all over the forum imho as i've answered this well over 150 times since it started.

What baffles me is that everybody is so keen on tracking their number of posts... i never have any clue how many posts I have at any given time, nor do i care

Posted by MikLSP
hehe, u should be a mod!!

I don't usually follow my count particularly but just noticed yesterday it was nearly 300 and thought this thread would be the perfect place to post No.300! Not much point though eh.

Conspiracy I tells ya!

Posted by Vlammetje
doubt I'll ever be a mod tbh

and yes! it's a conspiracy and we're all in on it

Posted by MikLSP
Now I'm scared!!

Posted by *Jojo*
@vlammetje being a moderator, YES, I've made a thread about that, but did not prosper though as what I did with @masseur back then. This girl 'really' has the potential - 'jill-of-all-trades', when it comes to stock knowledge, can answer/reply to almost any thread she visited. Though honestly speaking, @vlammetje is at times 'quite' - strict/lacks consideration on her replies . . . which I think should also be needed in various occasions to uphold such 'normalcy' in some threads.
If ever she becomes a mod, then it will be a first one to having a 'lady' here at Esato . Good Luck !

Well that's why we're here

I think I may start to post links on here to the most unsuccessful threads I come across, like a showcase of dismal performance
What do you think?

Posted by Vlammetje
reminds me of mixin who dug up his first ever question on the forum 2 years after and noone had ever replied to it

there are quite a few really unsuccesfull threads out there.

Maybe it's fitting to link to one made by the man who gave us Esato in the first place to kick it off

Here's another one of mine to make everyone feel better.
It's about some items I (still) require and it's a corker and has achieved another fantastic ZERO & only 28views!!
Feel free to break it's duck.
http://www.esato.com/board/viewtopic.php?topic=49277

Posted by Vlammetje
1 screw??

Posted by MikLSP

I told u it was a corker!
Doomed from the start that one.
In case anyone's wondering the 'screw' in question is a small piece of threaded metal used for joining objects together, no other type of screw if that's what ur thinking.
I broke one after trying to fix my jogdial, tightened it too tight!
(well I did say don't ask!)

Posted by Vlammetje
i now know why I do not ofetn start threads I am sure mine would be most unsuccesfull

Posted by MikLSP
You're gonna love this one!
The problem is definately that's it is FAR to boring!! It's about fishing!..................
Fishing! Come on!

I'm surprised it has 2 replies but at least neither are serious.
So welcome 'brianmski' to the Hall Of Shame
http://www.esato.com/board/viewtopic.php?topic=51915

FISHING?!!!

Posted by Vlammetje
Oh goodness that one is quality

Posted by *Jojo*
@vlammetje - 'Bout the 'Flame' - I looked for your 'username' in Google, quite doubtful at first what it really means, so, I just go for the majority of the photos posted there - and yes, it was 'flame'. You could have also used the username - 'Torch' or 'Flame Thrower' . . .

Posted by MikLSP
Here I am with today's entry!!
This is another big fat ZERO an is by 'rdnymllnsktr'
Hmmm, catchy name!

The fatal error here I think is giving a link to a better thread on the same topic! (write that down under 'DO NOT' everyone!)
If everyone did this Masseur would have nothing to do

(It's about Bluejacking BTW!)
http://www.esato.com/board/viewtopic.php?topic=51774

Posted by Vlammetje
Fatal error could also be 'opening yet another thread about bluejacking' when in reality, we all love ajack's naughty thread

I could but they would not be nearly as nicely in sync with my last name

Posted by *Jojo*
@vlammetje - What is your last name then? hmmmm is it Rivers - as in Doc Rivers of the NBA? How about Ocean - as in Billy Ocean, the famous black singer in the US ?

Posted by Vlammetje
it is to do with my nick

Posted by *Jojo*
@vlammetje - How about 'Vlam Kablam' or ' Vlam d' Ham'. It's really quite hard to guess here mate . . .

Posted by MikLSP
Nooooo!
My thread has been hijacked by a name game!

Well I think it's been a success & will carry on being!
I've had help with my required items, including the infamous 'screw' as a result of it!

2 threads I started today are struggling again, dunno why, just back to the old ways I guess! I'll link 'em here if they need help!

Here's one that does need help but I don't think it'll get much. Asking for info on the 60s & 70s, aren't most people on here born in the 80s (like the threads author) or maybe late 70s?
So how about some help for 'seiunUsagi' in this thread:
http://www.esato.com/board/viewtopic.php?topic=52101

Posted by MikLSP
Well I don't think this thread is going to stay alive much longer.
Bye bye my thread

nonono, this thread serves a purpose! (to give you at least one succesful one ) can't surrender that easily!

Posted by buluayam
Just doing my bit to keep a thread on unsuccessful threads - successful!!

Posted by Krubach
This thread is hanging by a thin wire.
It needs to get some reviving techniques, from time to time...
The successfull "Unsuccessfull Thread", is starting to get unsuccessfull again. ...

Posted by Vlammetje
OK.... here's me putting in some more effort into this thread then

Posted by sn3ipen
I never get any succesfull threads but i dont care as long as you guyz have it the same way.

Posted by Krubach
@speedoh

BTW, are you a Rosenborg fan? If so, my condolences... i'm a Benfica fan

Posted by MikLSP
IT LIVES!!!!

I'll spend some more time on this thread if u lot will, just need to decide on some sort of direction for it.

What do u want?
-a place that showcases rubbish threads
-a place to come & call for help with ur rubbish threads
-a bit of both & the odd success story!

speaking of which my threads have done quite well recently although I think one about 'THE video' (u know the one) got deleted! But, he he, I now have 'THE video'!

Posted by Vlammetje
i'd say option 3 sounds good

Posted by ~lozishere~
*Sticks head through forum door, shouts and swears for a bit, has a rant about lettuce and leaves*
Good enough contribution?

Posted by Vlammetje
you missed out the spinach

Popeye will be upset

Posted by ~lozishere~
@vlamm: i'm telling my mummy on you; you keep telling me wat i post is wrong! usually it is but wat the hell!? *Throws spinach @vlamm and runs 4 it *

Posted by Krubach
