Found this out:
1) go to settings
2) choose number 6
3) number 5
4) set to on
5) click yes
6) choose a random profile and assign a voice shortcut to it
7) then delete it by choosing option 3
your phone says that the setting is off
9) now create a new sms message and preview a sound effect
10) LISTEN CAREFULLY and enjoy

Tried to download polyfonic ringtones but no go... It seems that the phone has the option to play polyfonic tones but disabled by Sony-Ericsson! Is there anybody who knows how we can force that? If possible...

And with is that LCD SW versions? Wouldn't it be possible to force the LCD to display more than 256 colors?

Firmware: R5D007

I tried and it really works...
the sound effects are then played in the earpiece.

well..., thanks for the tips, juz test it and worked.., but...,

Does anybody know how do I reset everything? Coz now my sms tone is becoming "low polyphonic" tones. This is good for office use (which is very quiet), but I certainly don't want to live w/ this 4ever...so please help.....

Thx...

Force to display more than 256 colours? Is that possible?

I dont think so. There's a thread about it its no possible to do that thing

Posted by Bostein
Ignore my last thread, I did manage to reset it to the classic tones.
Though I prefer to use the poly one in office coz I don't want to drag attention when sms arrived.

How did you find this out anyway? And i don't think they are actually midi files. I think they are just recorded sounds via the sound recorder.

Posted by MikLSP
So why didn't it work on mine?

Posted by BOSSHOGG
Follow the instructions exactly, using the numbered keys to do everything and not the stick.

it worked on mine
thanx

@BOSSHOG

Was just messing around. And I think you're right about those recorded tones; but they look a lot to the ones in the t610. I still think it should be possible to enable those tones, but it will require lots of skill (messing around with the firmware...)

Sorry, I'm probably missing something quite obvious, but I've deleted all voice commands and disabled all voice command features, and still cannot get the original SMS alert tones back on my old T68i.

How exactly does one revert back to the original settings?

@fannypad

turn the phone off and then on.
original tones should be restored by then.
changing from profile could also do the trick

glad of being help to you

i've noticed that you can only hear the polyphonic type message tone when you're on voice call.

Posted by EmilioT68i
Well, these are not polyphonic sounds, just "hidden" sounds recorded in AMR format, the same as the one you record with the sound recorder. T68(i) is not able to play polyphonic rigtones because it doesn't have a speaker, just as simple... These sounds are played through the earpiece, that's why these sound so low. If you want to hear them loud, you would need a poly loudspeaker, and that implies a whole new design...

Posted by draxken
Exactly. And it's not just a matter of speaker, but for polyphonic sound you also need a midi synth soundchip! so I agree it's probably audio in AMR format Couldn't see a reason for SE to build in a soundchip and speaker and not activate it :|
