I posted this also in BM3W.UK E46 forum:

did some tests with the SE P800 (R2F) and my SE T610 (R1L013) on my new BMW M3 (MY2004)

P800 configured to send audio to BT headset

what was the result:

pairing: both work and names get displayed correctly on BMW (BMW is seen as a headset BT device)
outgoing calls: T610 calls; P800 doesn't (tho' the P800 display lights up, so the phone 'sees' something, but doesn't do anything)
incoming calls: T610 rings, BMW rings; P800 rings, BMW doesn't ring, BUT still displays "incoming call", pick it up and HOLA!...that WORKS (!)
phonebook: T610 seems to 'hang' for a while, then 'unblocks' and phonebook is in BMW: P800 does nothing and refuses to send them to BMW over bluetooth
SMS: T610 displays SMS (letter) icon and DISPLAYS the SMS (!); P800 says "SMS not supported"

long SMS's (multiple SMSes merged into 1 big) are listed as seperate SMSes in BMW
the quick-dial FINALLY sorts alphabetically instead of the sim-card number!
the phonebook on the BMW only supports 16 characters, silly again
I haven't found a way to switch a current call into a private one (BMW fixed phone does it)
You hear a second incoming call over the BMW system, but you can't switch using the BMW, you need to use phone for that

So you can receive incoming calls with a P800 & BMW BT, but nothing more...

If you enable TTY textphone on P800 it won't work at all.
P800 has nowhere a 'car' profile selectable, it IS in the phone, but is only enabled if the phone detects a physical carkit connected to it (silly!)

So I basically use the T610 now and I'm gutted my expensive P800 can't do the job.

Battery of T610 doesn't last long with BT enabled and doing a few calls per day, it won't hold 2 days.

my buddy using a March 03 M3 with BT has also a T610 and there his SMS do not show up (as with most ones, do I feel lucky!?)

his data: T610 firmware R1A081, BMW BT ID= BMW86396
my data: T610 firmware R1L013, BMW BT ID= BMW87713
