P800 Calendar Sync - Time Zone Changes

I am fairly confident this particular issue has not been addressed here.

The situation...

I travel globally quite abit (80%) and cross multiple time zones in a given day. I have no problems with the actual sync process. Mine is when I change time zones.

So I change the time zone on the P800 to reflect my current location and the times in my calendar do not reflect this. So I end up having to calculate all my appointments and concalls and all the wonderful things we keep in calendars these days based on what ever the time difference is between my current location and home.

Now I have been through the SE phone and email support infrastructure. The only answser I have been given from them is Master Reset. It seems that the phone will sync to the initial time zone setting and no subsequent changes...per SE. I have tried to be slick and tried a few workarounds to no avail.

Long and short...when I change time zones my calendar does not reflect these changes, thus having to use my brain and think for a second or so longer than necessary. This problem is really the only thing keeping me from touting this phone

Now I am pushing this up the SE chain of command with great resistance from SE. So perhaps one of you SE folks on this board can contact me as well. If I ever get a resolution to this I will tell the world.

HELP!!!!

1)

Yep you do appear to have spotted a new problem.

2)

Just a thought, but do you have the latest firmware on your phone? Do a search here, on HowardForums and My-Symbian and you will get all the info you need on the latest firmware.

3)

If you do have the latest firmware and this problems still persists then I recommend you report this to the relevant Ericsson (NOT SE) Forum here: http://www.ericsson.com/mobilityworld/sub/open/forum/index.html

4)
If this problem does persist in the latest firmware then it is not good and is something that needs to be addressed by SE in a later firmware update.

I hope my reply helps.

I just had the new firmware loaded last week. This is what I have

phone: cxc162002 R2F
Bleutooth: cxc12529 R5A
Organiser: cxc162001 R2D02
CDA: cda162001/5 R5A02

And I will send through the link you suggested.

Yes, my work also involves a lot of travel and time-zone changes; and I spotted the problem you described before. I tried reporting it to Sony Ericsson directly, but I was unable to get through their bureacratic processes. I sent my comments to customer support twice and since they never really acknowledged the problem (and since there doesn't seem to be a bug report area on their web site) I gave up.

To solve the problem I had to completely reset the phone. Only after doing this the phone accepted the new timezone from outlook. I tried syncronizing the phone with outlook before resetting; but eventhough I changed the timezone on both the phone and outlook; the phone would keep 'remembering' only the old timezone for the purpose of syncronizing.

So the way I decided to solve the problem is as follows:

1) I set-up my PC to UTC timezone. From now on I ALWAYS keep it on that timezone.

2) I set-up the P800 to London timezone. I wanted to set-up the phone to UTC (which is not always the same as London time), but unfortunately the P800 doesn't have UTC timezone.

This solved the issue for me...now I don't change timezones; and I keep everything on UTC regardless of where I am.

However I have noticed other timezone related problems with the P800. For example Mexico City is shown as having a different timezone than Houston, Texas. That is NOT true. They are in the same timezone. I think Sony Ericsson needs to get people involved in their projects who are trully international. They may be a very international company; but they don't have a clue as to the needs of the international traveller who changes from one time-zone to the other on a regular basis.

If you have had the same experience with the problem and/or lack of support with SE on this issue let me know. I will be addressed.

I had this problem, and solved it with a reset (it hasn't come back).

There is pobably a more elegant solution - see this tread (suggests you delete csystemdataGmtOffset.ini which seems to make sense).

@P800IPSE

I can confirm that your firmware is the most up to date version for USA English.

The P800 changes its time to match your PC, so when you sync, it syncs the time aswell, so when you travel, just set ur pc to the time zones, will save u much time
