Posted by doohan
You can say that again, i am going to be selling my P800 on ebay. Hopefully i shall get abit of money for it. It does come loaded with 100's of applications....

Did I read wrongly? Eldar mentioned the use of MMC...???

Posted by fijbert
I hate those websites
they steal content off forums like this and claim they found out themselves

Posted by shawnmccall9
Did anybody else notice on Page 2 Eldar wrote on the screen that the P200 will be available soon??????

Posted by GOwin
what's the model of that samsung phone at the bottom pic on the first page.

Is there any software for viewing that .3gp movie file in a PC?

@gowing
Looks like a Samsung SGH E700 http://www.worldgsm.org/sam_e700.shtml

ugly design for me. the p800 still looks much better. the keypad looks like the ones from the nokia 8850. copying again and the battery life still sucks big time. SE should have included a bigger capacity battery.

Try Apple's QuickTime 3GPP Component (which requires QT Player 6.3) or this Platform4 Player from Philips

thanks for the info on the samsung phone. i thought it was a smartphone from samsung.

for everybody who is desperate to get a p900, it will be launching in november to support the launch of video messaging. i have used the handset and can assure you it is a lovely phone. price will be on contract around 400. but should be able to get it cheaper on higher contracts.

Posted by Gnuig
(Ups... just posted in another thread with this same review.)

And yes, I have been waiting for an 'official' word from too... (I didn't opt for the p800, but still waiting to see if the sx1,6600,or maybe z1010 will be released anytime soon also) this review tells us that the phone should be released very soon. Best guess...

Late November? Early December? Anybody...

Maybe it will hold true with that Sony-playstation anniversary date??? (read about it somewhere, but as they say, don't believe everything you read).

GREAT REVIEW!!! (I should mention the french one too)

Cheers.

Can anyone confirm if the flip can be removed?

According to the review Yes, it can be removed, just as it's predicessor the P800.

Look at the pics... from the description and 'boxed-material' there follows 1 ekstra flip (don't ask me why... that remains to be seen?)

L8R.

Why confirm it could be removed?? It's clear for mounth it can be removed ! lollll

Where??? I can see that in that test (??)
I all other test, they just talk about 1 flip, the standard one.. µ
Just one guy once showed a picture of a P800 (with flip) and a second flip near the phone.. but that's was very logic because he had 2 P810/900 and one without flip, the one who took the picture lolll

A much better test is this one, just because they really tested it (new software, soft from p800,...), not just reported :
http://81.91.70.85/mobilbpit/forum/index.php?act=ST&f=19&t=5195
but in french, use a translator
And they don't talk about a second flip either...

nothing new so far in the hardware, the phone however, looks re-innovated!

But I was wondering, if the phone is new only in software wise, i.e no new hardware modifications, could this mean that we can 'flash' our P800's to that new software?! Like the T68m>>T68i?!

Just wondering

And pics we reported too?

Ok, I could use on P900 old software, it looks like as in P800 and new one, it doesn't matter...

Flip COULDN"t be removed!!! From which statemnet you think that he could be?

Posted by lulu ginzburg
re-innovated backwards.... it's called back to the future loll
he looks like a sony from 4 years ago... is that good or not? but certainly not a "new" or innovative design !

Why not a beauty like a T610 , no.. they had to give us an ugliness like a Sony CMD-Z5.
It seems that people who claimend that this was the original drawing for the P800 coming from Sony, that Ericsson did refuse, where right ! Is it good to go backwards in Design? Is it because ti's new that it is better?
This is truely just a facelifting....

What? are oyu trying to say it can't be removed? We all saw a lot of picutes of a p810/900 whithout flip and it's delivired with a screwdriver (to remove the screws...) and a black replacment under cover for using it without flip !

read my comment in a different thread...

http://www.esato.com/board/viewtopic.php?topic=39127&forum=35&start=40

Inmy version (two samples, one a new one) I couldn't remove flip, I don't have screwdriver in package

Posted by spookyy
So, 2 questions from me.
Do you thing the camera quality is now as good as the one of N3650, or it is still as awful as the one of P800?
What would be the price WITHOUT a contract in Euro?

Posted by jomni1
This is taken from the review itself...

"...Now, the first difference from P800. The keypad is not made as a separate block; it doesn’t have any contacts with a touchscreen."

Don't you guys get it? The keypad is not made as a SEPARATE block. This means it cannot be removed according to the reviewer. I may be wrong but that's just what the review says.

BTW, in one of the screenshots, you can see the usual flip open interface with the flip closed. Confused? The pic is somewhere in the middle of part 1. I guess this is what they were saying that you can use the stylus even when the flip is closed. ????

@spooky

the camera quality of the P800 is not awful!!! It's the screen that makes the difference. The nokia screens does a good job in blending the colors so pictures taken look better on the phone compared to the p800. When the prictures are downloaded in the PC, the p800's pics are sharper. (You get better pictures with the latest firmware of the P800) The P900 would probably have the same picture quality.

In the review, there is also a section about the control panel - showing Virtual Flip Mode

Now what would the point of that be if the flip couldn't be removed?!?

Posted by EldarMurtazin
Camera is not bad on P800, totally compared with 3650
P900 has better camera...
Price without contract is around 650-700 Euro, it depends on the country

About flip. Yes I had such options, but in manual and I couldn't guess how remove flip. I try to do it with next sample, which planning to arrive on this week.

Posted by [Serge]
Did some searching and found this "Here you see, the keypad CAN be removed. A little replacement can be placed instead as in the P800" >> http://www.clubsonyericsson.com/products/p810/p810_flipreplacement.jpg

Posted by lazarini
yes the flip is removable ....

DEFINATELY A GOOD POINT - i stand by the fact that it can be removed

Posted by ainamrev
why are we yet to see more pictures in flip off most people use p800 flip off and all the pictures i have seen have been flip on i have seen the spare flip and screwdriver device and one fuzzy maybe even photo shopped picture with flip off we dont have enough proof. Maybe the flip can snap off easy hence the replacement flip. Some one who is reviewing the phone take the flip of and show us pictures!

Posted by Vlammetje
Why does this discussion keep emerging when we have no proof either way? What's the point?

Posted by bossjohnc
The point is, it's a mobile phone forum and people like to talk about mobile phones.

No proof?? loollll
It's removable ! How can you have doubt about htat?? lol crazy !!
We all saw it on pictures and why should they deliver a screw driver and a new clean black under cover if it was not possible to remove it??
Just to take the flip off, replace it with a black cover and then not using the phone?? lolll fool....

i am not seriously doubting it.

however... if it really were that easy to remove it, don't you think somebody would have done it and provided some very clear pictures by now???? think about it.......

By proof I mean actual... non disputable... PROOF.
as much as there are suggestive items (such as the black 'replacement bottom') that IMHO is not PROOF

no need for the fool comment my friend. we are all entitled to our opinion and mine is that as long as i don't see a (non photoshopped) picture with that black item on the bottom.... it is not sure.

Cheers mate

No pictures? and all those we allready saw??
Like this one : http://my-symbian.com/forum/download.php?id=1145
Or this one? : http://www.p800.info/pics/p810_2.jpg
Or maybe this one? : http://i1.ebayimg.com/03/i/00/b0/3e/b7_1.JPG
And they are a lot more to find...

How is it possible to even thinking bringing that in doubt ! lollll YOu have the pictures, it's quite logic, SE deliver the clean black cover even the screwdrivers, you saw the virtual flip !! and you are still not convicted ! lollllll crazy..

@vermania.... referendum in frnace and in UK shows us that only 36% of the user are without filp... says 64%with flip

Not forgetting this one, which has the replacement 'bit' next to it...

If the flip can be removed and I do expect it will be possible, it looks like it's not a straightforward job judging by the lack of pictures. It would be helpful if someone could show the process of removing.

Posted by lulu ginzburg
yep !! i forgot that one ! lolll

Posted by AdsP800
I think I'll hold on to my P800 for a while yet Besides,
It will probably be ages before the P900 becomes on sale in Australia anyway.

Posted by lulu ginzburg
ANd the succesor of the P900 is planned for summer 2004

I think that in order to avoid this confusion, everyone should reffer to everyone as it instead of he/she
