Msn is a Program devoloped by microsoft, and the same is for MSN for PDA's.
So i read recently that there was an app. that could transform VisualBasic devoloped apps to so they could work with P800, So isn't there any way to put MSN for PDA's into VisualBasic, and then transform it to for example .SIS format ?

I'm not an expert on Visual Basic ... but what do you think ?

Sounds possible to me but wouldnt it be easier to just use tipicme?

well since MobileVB is yet to be available for the P800 (one more week), I wldnt know what components r supported by the P800.. but I can predict it being possible and it being much nicer than TipicME

porting it will be hell, but it is doable.. I'll work on it.

well, to create a decent msn client would simply require an implementation of the md5 algorithm, which is simple enough.

http://www.hypothetic.org/docs/msn/index.php gives a detailed specification of the msn protocols, so it's up to one of you to implement it with a nice gui and easy to use

(i would but i'm working on a cannon-fodder game, maybe after )

http://www.blackberry.net/developers/na/java/doc/api/ is the reference for java btw

I think you are referring to appforge. As far as I understand you would still have to recompile the MSN application code with appforge and VB6 in order to port the app to the Symbian 7 platform. If the recompile is necessary, we wouldn't be able to use MSN unless microsoft ports the app themselves.

Yeah, i use tipicMe right now but what i want is that "msn look" and all the options... (like changeing name and stuff)

@fabrizio
I hv the source code for MSN.. MSN 4.5 tho..
but still..
I dont see how it cld be hard to port...
I am sure I can do it...

hope this threat results in a P800 version of msn

yeah once MobileVB can compile for the P800 than I will start working on it..
it will be charged tho..
5$ a pop

Hi fijbert,
I just thought the MSN Messenger source wouldn't be out, if you do have it, then according to the appforge release date for the MobileVB with support for the P800 of March 14th we shouldn't have any issues porting it.

obviously...
it isnt from MS.. since the code behind it all isnt so hard to recreate..
