Caution : Please do not read if you are sensitive and with weak heart. My words might make you feel un-ease.

From last 7 days, I had little chest pain. Though it was not that acute but it pained lightly when I climbed upstairs. Then the pain would go away, if I take rest for 3-4 mins. Then we showed it to MD and cardiologist and suggested to do angiography, which we deny and then went to mumbai to consult the expert on angiography. After seeing my reports and tests, he has suggested to perform angiography and then to decide whether to perform angioplasty or put stent in vein.

On Thursday evening, 2nd August 2012, I was taken to operation table for angiography. I was already feeling nervous as I was undergoing the procedure for the first time in life and I dont want to go for either of the options- angioplasty or stent. On table, I was lying with my both hands holding a bar near my head. A nurse had given me local anesthesia to my thigh area. Now doctor came in and hold my leg and pierce hole in the vein. Though the I couldn't feel the actual pain but I felt like ant's stint. But my body started to respond, became hard knowing what was going on. Doctor said me to relax. I tried to relax but still sometimes my stomach and leg muscles became stiff. Now the machine had started to rotate slowly and randomly around my chest taking video or photo and showing on screen. I have already closed my eyes but I could hear the sound that machine was making. I was feeling a little vibration near my heart. So I knew that the wire is inside my body. I was relaxing by closing my eyes. I was feeling like my table is moving so I keep opening and closing my eyes and then I dont know when I fell asleep. It was like dark all around me and in background a music was playing. Suddenly there was like lightening struck and I was like gasping for air, gasping for life and I was like bounced near the machine head. I remember, I am on operation table and I must not move like that but I couldn't control myself. One man was pumping on my heart. I started to shout, 'mummmy......' Then doctor shouted again, one more shock. I understood the situation that the lightening was actually an electric shock. I shouted again, pleading, ' pls no shock, no shock, no shock' but again a shock came bouncing my whole body on table. I felt like my left part of the body has just peeled off and strong hammer hit in my mind. Then again that man has started pumping my chest very hard. I pleaded, 'what happened doctor? What happened ? I want to live. I want to live. Pls call my relatives from outside. I want to talk with them'. The doctor asked another doctor to put on the oxygen mask. I couldn't understand why that mask when I can breath. He put on the mask said me to breath. The guy who was pumping my chest had stop. Now doctor said to me, 'relax..relax... Its done' I was like keep pleading to doctor my questions but he went away. My oxygen mask was removed. Then a man came and told me happily that I am alright. I then saw around and I saw many worried and pale faces around me. I could feel something went terribly wrong. I started crying. That man came again and ask me why am I crying? You are fine. I again asked him what happened? He didn't answer but keep saying me that nothing, you are fine. Then I saw my relatives in nearby room watching me from a big glass window and doctor was talking with them. After sometime, doctor came in and told me that during procedure, when that wire entered my heart, it has responded very strongly and it has started to beat very fast and heavily. Good news is that you dont require angioplasty or stent right now. You will be given medicines that will open the blockages and will control my cholesterol level. I was like thank god. But I kept asking to others who came closer to me that tell me the truth, nothing is placed inside me?? Again after sometime, doctor came again and said to other doctor, 'now its stable. Remove the wire.' and went away. Then the wire was removed from my body and I was taken out of operation theatre. The whole night I was kept under observation and next day morning, I was discharged. And on same day, we returned to my city by train. Now I am on full rest and medicines. I dont have chest pain since my return home.

Later on that night, I heard nurse talking on phone with other staff member about me saying I was given 3 shocks. Two shocks I have counted but what about the first one ?? That means, I WAS DEAD FOR SOMETIME.

Thank god for giving me another life and chance to live with my dear ones again.

Love you all.

What an experience shared by you ! You have just written your heart out there. God is great and have been with you.
How are you now? Everyone is not like you ceaser, all can not share their experience like you have. But one thing is sure, that what ever you have gone thru, you wont forget in the near future.
So, something is missing. Your first shock. Do you really counted the two of them? Or , the local anesthesia took it away from you?
Were you DEAD FOR SOMETIME ? Really. O , God is really Great

Posted by bhavitsoft
Tell me buddy, what was your first reaction on seeing your family after the treatment ? Relaxed ?
You cried bro .......
You have made a point here. Your dear ones are with you and will be. God has given you another chance to live n enjoy with them. Live this NEW LIFE at the fullest.

What the .....
Why don't the doctors tell the truth?

you were in the best place, all equipment available for any circumstances.
I'm glad you're alright now.
Take it easy for a while, take care.

Posted by Bonovox
Bloody hell Ceaser I am so glad you're ok now. That is some experience. How you feeling now?? Our dear friend Ceaser still with us thank god.

Posted by fbloise
glad to know you are ok...

Posted by razec
You know when I read your post I was thinking about two other persons, Masseur(I know he's on a better place now) and my brother who nearly died on 2008. whenever I heard stories like this It feels like I'm actually there watching whoever's in such distressful situation. I know how your family feels mate, as the moment my mother told me that my brother almost got killed by an accident a week before I arrived home really sent me into a state I never knew I would experience. It's good to know that you survived the ordeal, and you made your friends here anxious. by the way what you experienced was an example of NDE or Near Death Experience

Posted by Bonovox
Yes my dad having had tripple heart bypass in March he had a stent put in before hand and said it was so painful. But stent never worked. But he's fit and well again now. Ceaser i hope your health improves and maybe you were working too hard as you told me you have been very busy with your work lately. Take it easy for a bit if possible. Your health is more important. It can change your outlook on life when these things happen. I am amazed your cholesterol is high your a tall slim man Ceaser When my dad has heart attack he passed out was gone for 15 or more minutes. Any longer would have been fatal. Anyway we are all glad you came through it mate

@bhavitsoft
My reaction after watching my relatives ( my wife, my brother and his wife, my cousin and his young son) was like I want to tell them everything what happened with me. Even I wanted to know what doctor was saying them. I saw my wife crying a lot and my sister-in-law took care of her and took her outside.

@hihihans
Yes, I was in safe hands. Actually the doctor is an expert on angiography and is pioneer of this technology in India.

@bonovox
Yes, I am slim man but cholesterol came. May be because of my family history. Though my father didn't have such problem but my elder brother have. He is also slim like me but he had this heart attack 4 years back and stent was fitted then. He is just 1.5 years elder then me.

@fabloise
Thanks friend.

@razec
I am sorry about your brother. Yes, I had NDE. Actually I had read that page yesterday morning. And my experience is one of that. Darkness and the background music. The music was coming like from a far end of a tunnel.

Posted by Bonovox
What was the music you heard?? Did you see a tunnel??

Posted by razec
@Jignesh:

So glad you're fine now mate, and my brother did survive as well, and he did experience NDE just like you. by the way I'm curious as to what the background music sounds like?

Posted by tranced
Oh Ceaser. Your story really touched me. First, because it's you and second, because I have cholesterol in high levels. But thanks God I have subscribed in a gym. I hope the high levels go as low as they can.

I really hope you get recovered 100 percent. You're very important for yours and us.

Happy weekend!

Posted by reeflotz
that was one hell of an experience to go through, glad to know everything is fine now ceaser

Posted by ceaser2008
@razec,@bonovox

Well I dont remember the exact type of music but it was like coming from a distance. Like you hear sound from other end of tunnel. Echoing.

@tranced
Oh.. You too have high cholesterol. My level is 532. HDL - 39 and LDL - 477.

@reeflotz
I just hope nobody have such scary experience.

Posted by Bonovox
A healthy cholesterol level is around 3 to 4 so my doctor told me. Simvastatin I am on but mine is not too high its mostly blood pressure and sugar levels for me. Ya know what's best more than anything?? Corporation pop in other words water.

Posted by tranced
Ceaser, that's sooooooooooo high! I'm not that high.

Bonovox, I was on that meds as well. It did its jobs I think.

Posted by adnansanni
Ceaser, Thanks to god that you are safe now. Take care yourself and take proper rest.
I didn't know this, Sean told me few minutes ago about you on fb. My Grandfather, Uncle and my Mum died because of this. After my mum died I went to doctor for regular checkup and find out that I also have high cholesterol. Doctor said I have this from my mother side family. I've also high level Triglycerides/TG along with cholesterol. I've to take medicine everyday for this but it is always stay high no matter what I do.... may be it's because of my eating habits. After reading about you, I think it is time to wake up. I shouldn't eat junk/fast-food anymore. Recently I bought a bicycle and have stated to ride it hope it'll help to control that monster that called cholesterol.

Change your life style a little bit, eat healthy food, do some exercise everyday and take your medicine regular then you'll be more than fine.

Posted by Bonovox
Tranced yes they do work but sometimes give me aching legs :-/ Ceaser ya know when my dad collapsed he remembers nothing Cholesterol is a horrible yellow substance and it got so bad in my dads artery that the stent never worked. Its time I woke up too as you don't realise your doing bad to your body till its too late. You might feel ok but it can happen suddenly. Its your body telling you and you been given another chance and we are happy your still here Seeing my dad on life support machine is when it hit me. Adnan I seen your bike it looks cool Anyway now you can make the most of everyday from now on. I get annoyed with myself too for not listening to my own advice about my health. Ceaser did your dad have any of these problems?? My dads side had high blood pressure and diabetes but my moms side cancer to which she lost Be positive now mate

Adnan, bonovox

Actually the doctors says it came because of hereditary. Now my dad has no BP, no sugar, no cholesterol nothing. Even my all uncles dont have either of it. My mom has BP. Nothing more than it. My elder brother has BP, cholesterol plus a minor heart attack at young age of 30. I am 32. Doctors says because your brother,blood sibling, you got it. Thats not understanding at all. May be someone from 2nd or 3rd generation from my mother or father's side had this and it inherited to we both brothers. How is your dad, bono?

Tranced, I am glad to know its not that high in your case. May be if I had got it checked regularly, it would have been a different story. Keep a close eye on it.

Posted by bhavitsoft
Ceaser, you are getting such good n healthy advise that now is the high time that you must follow them. Yes , you must change your lifestyle as well. Jaan hai toh jahaaan hai buddy . Take care.

Caesar
Insane! Glad you OK.

Posted by Bonovox
Ceaser yes me too its hereditary in my family despite me being a larger man My brother has these issues and he too is slim

Posted by ceaser2008
Mate... Why we have to suffer on our ancestor's account.

Posted by tranced
@ceaser: Genetic is a b*tch!

@bonovox: with the meds I was feeling much better. I didn't get any secondary effects.

By the way, I have something else in my heart. A mitral valve of mine is slightly grossed(?).

Posted by ceaser2008
Tranced... mate... Mitral value.. Slightly grossed..??? Pls tell us, what docs are saying ?? Pls take care.

Posted by tranced
That was last year. I don't know its status now

Posted by Bonovox
Yeah tranced I think just some people get side effects I just get aching legs sometimes. Ceaser how you feeling now?? I am gonna come back on Esato after my few weeks break. Wanna be around old friends. My dad said the same to me he said Sean you've inherited this from me,sorry. I said don't be daft it ain't your fault dad

Posted by alenn
I thought that you saw a ghost or something when I read the title.
Happy to hear that you're all right.

Posted by Marly
OMG Ceaser, just been reading this (been in Germany over the weekend, visiting friends), don't know what to say, I'm shocked, you're still so young!
Thank God you were in good hands!

A good thing about your age is, that young people usually are physically stronger and recover better, than older people.
Now try to relax and take the rest you need to recover fully. I know, this is easier said than done with the responsability for family and business, but for now, your health is most important.

Take care!

@tranced:
Good to read, you're in control of your cholesterol levels now, try to keep going to the gym on a regular basis, most of us spend too much time sitting during work hours. Me too, but I try to go cycling a few times a week, don't always have the time though.

Posted by tranced
Sure I will! Gonna wake up earlier to go to gym as I can barely go at night due to university.

Posted by ceaser2008
Sure Marly. I will now take care of myself. Right now I am on full rest.

Tranced, prevention is better then cure.

Posted by Bonovox
Experts say that going to the gym late at night is not so good if you wanna sleep. They say its cuz of increased endorphin levels in the body thus making you restless. So during the daytime is better. So they say. It obviously does not tire you out as expected. I was shocked at something my Irish aunt told me. She said black pudding which they eat in an Irish breakfast is actually pigs cholesterol Why would anyone wanna eat that??

Posted by ceaser2008
I dont know how to say this but this is fact which I came to know just few hours back. The result of my angiography is i've 75% veins blocked. After my return from mumbai, my family member were trying to show my case to different specialist and all have one opinion. heart surgery which can be perform anytime. I mean when he give appointment, we'll have to go there in mumbai.
[ This Message was edited by: ceaser2008 on 2012-08-07 10:45 ]

Posted by Bonovox
OMG but surely if you now had 75% blocked you would not be alive. That sounds impossible surely?? I don't know but if true Ceaser that's so sad for you that's awful my friend

Posted by hihihans

You better make that appointment as soon as possible, there is so much more to enjoy.
Best wishes and best of luck.
I'll be with you in thoughts.

Posted by bhavitsoft

its high time to be extra cautious now . Wish you a speedy recovery brother .

Posted by ceaser2008
Hans, my brother is going to mumbai tomorrow and fix everything. Then we'll leave. I'll write here before leaving for the surgery.

Posted by tranced
Wow. Not what I was expecting. But at least you still have time. My best wishes and prayers, along with razec's, go with you.

The wheat is a good enemy of the cholesterol.

Midnight here. See you and keep us posted.

I am feeling nervous about my bypass surgery. It is hard to digest that my veins are that much blocked. Plus I am preparing myself. My life will never be the same. Will I be able to live normal life?

Posted by razec
For now try to clear yourself from worries, put your trust to your physicians, and of course to our creator. I know it's easier said than done, but you're not alone in your fight. you have you family, and us

Posted by ceaser2008
Okay. We are leaving for mumbai. Tomorrow morning, we will be admitted in the hospital. For two days, they will do some tests and then on saturday, surgery will be done.

Posted by bhavitsoft
wishing you a speedy recovery , get well soon n come back . God and all are with you .
jaldi theek ho jaa mere bhai ....

Posted by Bonovox
Just spoke to Jignesh(Ceaser) on Face Book as he was on the train. Poor man sounds nervous about operation. I reassured him he will recover like my dad has. And my dad is older. The doctor told my dad after the operation his heart would be healthier due to unblocking. Only the damage to the heart would need to heal but Ceaser did not have heart attack thank god. He may heal quicker as a result. Be brave and strong. My dad says he no longer worries about anything anymore after what he went through. Try to relax Ceaser as if your blood pressure goes up they can't operate. Try to relax as best you can although its not easy I know. Good luck our friend.

Saturday.
You'll come out of this stronger as ever.
Have faith and think positive.
Good luck, friend

Posted by adnansanni

I'm sure you'll be fine.
Which hospital are you going to admit? My grandmother had bypass surgery from B.M.Birla hospital from Calcutta and my uncle did (two years ago) from Mumbai but can't remember the hospital's name right now.
