The killer app for the p800 would be remote functionality.

I mean, it has a touchscreen, it has IR, now all it needs is the software, right? ProntoLite is out for the Palm OS, why not Symbian?

Someone should get on that, like yesterday. I would love to use my phone that I always have in my pocket as a remote to control all my A/V gear.

I agree fully with that thought... Although, I have another suggestion for the killer app, and that would be to have a GPS app. added to the collection. Wonder if that will be available?

Yup! A universal learning remote!!! Something that learns from any existing remote!!!

GPS... well, an app could easily be ported for the BlueTooth GPS receiver. But the thing costs $500, you might as well, get a full blown Garmin.

I disagree personally. I don't even use the remote control capability in my Ipaq.

For me the ONE thing I miss from my T68i would be profiles.

re: GPS and remote controller

both functions would require hardware, not just applications. GPS would need a GPS receiver. somewhat attached to the phone. but unfortunately, msduo aint I/O, meaning it is only used for storage purposes (given that developers will make GPS msduo's, but unlikely).

the irDA of the p800 is not as strong as the industrial type, unfortunately. if, and only if an application would be written, you will be holding the p800 just a few inches away the TV to change the channel, as near as just pressing the button on the TV.

For Your info I'm testing the alpha version of a irRemote Control. It's great! Alpha works for about 1.5meter away from my Sony tv but my Sony old miniHi-Fi works even 3m away!!! I cant say anything more. Regards! Peter

No, there is a Bluetooth GPS receiver just for application concepts such as this. It's by Socket Communications. It connects via BT serial port and gives off standard NMEA datum. So if you REALLY want a GPS on your phone, this is possible. It works with any BT enabled PDA... so porting it to the P800 won't be that far off.

But my point was, the Bluetooth GPS receiver costs about $500! I'd rather get a dedicated Garmin GPS system that won't leave my phone drained while keeping me on the right road!

MS Duos ARE I/O... they work EXACTLY like a regular Memory Stick. So a GPS unit (albeit it would stick out and leave your stylus without an attachment) is possible.

I still want an IR remote... or the next best thing... BEMUSED!! (It's a Series 60 app)

GPS on the P800 would be neat... but I'd hate to see how fast it could kill my battery!
