Apple has sent invitations to selected reporters for the long awaited (and debated) event.
The presentation will take place at Apple's Cupertino, Calif. headquarters on the 4th of October at 10 a.m.
This doesn't come as a surprise to anyone as rumors long preceded the official announcement. What remains to be seen is if Apple will announce a new device (the alleged iPhone 5 or 4S ) or this is just the launch event for it's new iOS 5.
Previous rumors stated that the next iPhone will be running the new A5 chip, also present in the iPad 2, will get 1GB of Ram and an 8MP camera.
The first three icons (as seen in the picture above) describe the date, time and location of the event, while the call notification describes ... well, we can only guess.
All remains to be seen as it's Apple's "policy" to surprise.

I'm still not 100% it will be the iPhone 5 they announce, nor the 4S for that matter.

The iPad 2 comparison rumour is pretty strong as its based on IP5 case leaks which are rarely wrong Apple releases their product dimensions and detailed graphs to third party manufacturers months before any product announcement so this has legs but of course it still remains to seen how close this design is to the iPad 2?a few more days and the mystery will end.

are you really one of the few that have learned nothing from the last 4 years? or is this simply an anti-iphone post that we find in mosts forums as release approaches, as the smiley suggests?
I have followed all iphone releases from before I had any interest to now even getting involved at a developer level for the last 2 years and even then the final announcements have surprises that were not evident in the developer forums
so really, lets just wait and see before we give throw away lines like "anti climax" etc...

I think Bon was just going on what ive always felt with the iPhone, since 2007 ive looked on in envy at its interface but never once been committed to buying one because it doesnt tick all the right boxes. Thats the anti climax for me right there..
Im hoping the iPhone 5 to have a 4" or larger HD screen, proper multitasking, Bluetooth file transfers, xenon flash and an open OS which can be customised without the need for jailbreaking. Sadly, i doubt Apple will include any of the above for me.
Come 6pm tomorrow i'll be keeping my rss feeds active !!

I agree with the Bluetooth file transfer but expandable memory...the handset comes with 32gb isn't that enough?

I prefer a memorycard, dosen`t have to back up content all the time in case the phone crashes. Both my wife and my daughter had to send their iPhones on service, both lost content because backup could not be done

I am not an iPhone fan nor am I looking forward to what they may offer tomorrow but I thought this interesting. Sprint apparently has a deal with Apple to purchase 30.5 million iPhones
over the next four years. The deal is apparently worth $20 Billion.
That is essentially betting the entire company as the Wall Street Journal put it. See it here in Phonearena.

That site claims it will have it probably in audio only and up to 30 minutes later than the actual live show.

There is no proper real time live feed this time Apple has reserved that for journalists only at the Apple store as masseur mentioned so the 30 min delay is the best we will get.

It'll be all the Apple fans demanding their new phone. Even GSMarena's blog isnt loading up either since they've just confirmed a white 4S.
EDIT: white and black 4s, same shape as iPhone 4, on sale 14th October according to Apple store site in Japan.

developers are still on iOS 5 beta 7, we haven't even seen the gold master which normally we do at least 2 weeks before it goes live.
