I am not actually using my phone as a camera replacement. Having a Canon Powershot SX210.
Still now and then the phone is the only camera in sight.

I hold my phone so greasy fingers touching the lens and then...
Keep the phone in my pocket where it collecting all kind of dust and lint.

How the heck do you, who gets those perfect photos (seen a hundreds of them here on this forum alone)
Do you use some kind of cover? or having a cloth to clean the lens before a photo session?

I just tried to clean my X10 Mini lens (brush and bellow used for the camera lenses). Still almost given in as the whole phones inside is full of lint and metal dust(from work).

The SX210 lens is easy to keep clean as the lens is protected, but a phones lens is always in harms way.

Any suggestions?

This might help

Always clean lens with shirt before taking photo

Consider these things when deciding that you are shooting:

Focus
Lighting
Composition
Exposure
Interest

I keep my phone in a soft mobile pouch bag and together with it a soft cloth (the ones used for wiping glasses). Before I take a photo I just lightly wipe the lens clean. Works for me

well, first of all, you DONT have to clean the lens glass every time you want to snap a picture, (its enough to do it once a while, the lens glass does not get smudgy after some hours of normally using).

i have own several cellphones without lens cover and i clean the lens glass once a month something...........................
my best tip to you is this;

a nice mobile sock who protect the phone itself and the camera...........cheers

Well it doesn't seems like people that takes those nice photos.
Are that obsessed with the Lens protection as I thought.

Well I am no good photographer anyway but what I am not I can become... By time.

Anyho... the photos here on Esato are good. Showing what a modern
phones cameras can perform. In the hands of a skilled photographer.

@Arne
Now at the end/late winter I have some odd left hand mittens and glows (It's always the right one that I lost )
Can use one of them. saving me a buck or two

hardly rocket science on how to keep a lens clean

@Bonovox

Don't say that, for some phone buyers the camera is the most important feature. They will by automatic take care of the lens.

For others like me, the music playing ability is the most important feature. I don't mind the phone having a camera but seldom use it, even less, so care for the back of the phone.

When taking snap-shots, the lens is always clogged (sometimes more, sometimes less) and on a small screen it isn't visible but reveal itself when editing or viewing the photos on a large screen

(It happens to be so that or livingroom comp connected to the 42" is also our photo and video editing comp)

The HTPC behind the left cabinet door. I was using the TV-screen to install Ubuntu on a Eee PC 701

I learned a lot of those that replied.
Even so the skill learned is not rocket science
