Which SE phone to get on a £100/£120 budget?

Hi all,

I have just sold my Desire HD to free up some cash and have decided to venture back into the world of SE after many years of using different phones.

Basically I have about £100-£120 to spend and wondered which phones people would suggest. Obviously I am open to new and second hand phones.

Things I need WiFi, 3G, Camera, Memory Card slot.

Let me know which you think.

Elm. Got one off ebay for £77 after I'd had enough of my Satio's stupid touch screen. Can't fault the Elm yet.

First thing that pops my mind is Hazel and Elm. A second hand C905, W995 or Aino are available too.

I would also recommend the Elm, it offers all the basic features you need, it's not the best feature phone out there but it's not bad for the price.

Or the Hazel as I have one with bigger better screen than the Elm but in a slider form same specs & camera

What are the viewing angles like on the Hazel? (screen getting light/dark when looked at from left/right) The elm has terrible viewing angles

Better cos the screen is brighter & clearer

But still not the best I assume. The iPhone 4 has perfect viewing angles, hope we see more IPS displays on phones in future

No Super AMOLED has the best viewing angles like the Samsung Galaxy S

For 120 you could buy my white X10 mini pro off me

Thanks for the replies everyone.

What are your opinions of the Sony Ericsson G900? I always wanted to try one when they first came out and was thinking now might be the perfect oportunity to pick one up.

Let me know.

I had a red g900 a while ago. Nice phone but camera and led light was a bit poor. There was also reported problems with the touchscreen not working but I never had that issue with mine.
I was thinking of buying another one myself as there was a seller on ebay selling the red version for 105 delivered but the listing ended and they havent put anything back up.

Ps. I was being serious about the mini pro btw

Thanks for the offer Rookwise but unfortunately I am not a fan of the mini pro.

I have decided to use this opportunity in one of two ways.......either spend around £150 and get a second hand BB Pearl 9105 or a SE Aino. Or get a phone that I always craved but could never afford at the time.......Nokia Sirocco, W980, G900 that sort of thing.

I do like the look of the Aino though especially the white one. Any opinions?

Thanks
James

A White Aino
It's a masterpiece

What is it like as a phone? Does it work well? Menu smooth?

The last Sony Ericsson I had was the P990i which put me off them for awhile and now I have decided to venture back. I hope it's the right choice

See for yourself, I made This video a while ago.

Thanks for the link. I am liking the look of the Aino and it would be nice to get back into the SE world.

The keypad needs a little time to get used to. For the rest, no complains

go for ELM. it has WiFi and many more features including GPS, Good quality camera, solid design.

main disadvantage is lack of front Camera.

Posted by hihihans
I'm sorry but I think Aino has a better camera.
And wifi gps etc etc and... Great sound

Posted by Bonovox
Aino has better camera bigger 3 inch screen which is also sharper and brighter than the Elm. And has all the same features plus better sound quality and gaming. Its a no brainer

I'm pretty much set on the Aino but have just seen a HTC Diamond 2 and liked the look of it. I know these run Windows Mobile 6.1/6.5 I believe.

Any opinions on these?

Thats an old phone now and I think the camera will be poor. I would not bother though depends what you want.

Hi All,

I have just won myself a SE Aino on Ebay for £82.

Very happy. I hope I get on with it though

without a doubt a brand new K810 (if you find it)........have a nice day.

excellent camera
strong xenon flash
excellent design
excellent build quality

ps.....finding a good second hand newer/expensive phone for £100 is very hard. its often in pretty bad shape.

No doubt K810i was a wonderful device but it lacks WiFi,GPS and flash support.

Bought an Aino 2day (US$301). Its great. Only the keypad is not as comfortable as Hazel. Other than that it a right choice. Better/bigger/sharper screen, Very Good sound & build quality

Yes, after using Galaxy S, this Aino really feels like a toy
Anyways, bought it for my Dad and He is very happy now with his Aino

I'm a daddy too. Does that make Aino a daddy's phone?

for £100.........K810 is the best choice. (have use 9-10 phones in a road, and K810 is still one of the best)

forget Gps and all that slow crap......only Iphone and Nokia who have great/fast GPS.

That's not true. I used my Hazel's GPS while on vacation this Christmas, since I didn't want to bring my larger stand-alone GPS, and it was quite excellent. The accuracy is good, and Google Maps is fast, even though only on EDGE. I'm in my house right now, and its able to pinpoint my house on the map, (although it does jump from 5 meters to 300 meters accuracy because the signal is poor, but that is to be expected for any GPS indoors). I don't use it for driving navigation though; I have my Garmin for that.
