I upgraded the Firmware on my W995 to R1GA026 and there is a SIP section in Settings > Connectivity
I haven't figured it out yet, and I don't see a post about it here, so I'm interested to know if someone has tried it, does it work well etc.
As I understand it, SIP is an open standard and so is a better solution than Skype which is proprietary.

I don't have the w995 yet, because I need to know that the SIP work before I actually buy the phone.
What are the parameters needed for SIP in the w995? What is the detail of the menu for SIP in the w995? I try to look on the net and on the user's manual, but nothing!

If I can push my luck: what are the parameters for Proxy and Registrar server? After you enter a user adress, is it asked a password?

i myself couldn't understand what are those settings are about, still very new with this SIP...
here are the parameters that need to be filled:
#User address > sip:
#Proxy server > Proxy address: > Port: > Realm: > Username: > Password:
#Registrar server > Registrar address: > Port: > Realm: > Username: > Password:
hope someone who is familiar with the settings could help us

Apparently all that is needed for SIP is there!
I just ordered the phone, should be there in a few fays, hopefully before Xmas!

Does anybody know of a SIP client that would work on the W995? The capability is there its just you need a app/prog to utilize the settings. Or has everyone just got new phones now and moved on.
