Hi,

Whenever there are faint parts in the music I can hear static in my w810i's in-ear headphones. Is that normal?

Yes don't bother.

I bother because it annoys me. But I guess, there is no way of getting rid of it, so I'll just deal with it.

Are you using modded acoustics?

Nope, just the w810i with the in ear headphones which were in the box. I got no equalizer and play 256 kBit/s AAC

W, that problem is known as "the Walkman hiss" and is present in all Walkman phones of that era (it may even be in the newest phones also). It's NOT fixable by any means, and SE denies that the problem exists, which is truly sickening.

Just get used to it. I for my part don't think of buying any other SE phones, not because of the hiss, but because of SE's indifference against tricking people to buy faulty designs.

Apple denied that the iPod exploded somewhere in England, I guess every manufacturer does that to some extend.

The other thing that annoys me a little bit is that Sony is the only brand using memory stick, it's not a big deal to spend 20€ on a 4 GB MS which last a couple years, but why don't they just use SD like everybody else? Yeah, own house brand.

And the last thing is that it does not support a system lock. So whenevery somebody picks up my phone, they automatically got my address book, calendar, to do list …

But as it syncs pretty well with the Mac, and the menus are great to use, I still like it more than motorola for example.

It is understandable to deny some problems, but this issue affects every user that bought the faulty device. There is not a possibility that the defect would arise, it is already there and is fairly easy to notice.

I'm currently using a W810 and i bought it knowing that it has the hiss, because it is an excellent all-rounder still unsurpassed by the newest handsets, in my humble opinion. And i agree, i am used to SE menu and interface myself, and can't sympathise with UI from other makes of phones.

I also agree your points about memory sticks, and system locks. We just can't have everything altogether i guess.

what you write about the W810i i know from the W800i and i agry with you in every word.
Last week i bought my self a new W800i and now i leave all my new phones at home and very pride to show my new W800i to all, they are not really impressed until they listen to the music.and then they ask me "and all this power comes from this little phone?"...or "where is the stereo set".
