HPM-88 compatibility

I've read some HPM-88 specs both official and unofficial and they contradict each other as to whether it uses the 3.5mm jack or fastport connector. From the pictures provided there doesn't seem to be the usual 3.5mm connector at the answer/hangup button. Appreciate anyone here who actually owns a pair and would like to shed some light on the matter

HPM-88 can't be seperated part out anyway

So do you know if it has a 3.5mm jack or fastport connector?

It has only a fastport connector! As said before it can't be separated in any way and that is because of the noice cancelling function.

Yes it's fast port, see this link

Looking at the link in the post above it says that the HPM-88 features "Remote volume control" (Control the volume of the music or conversation from a unit built in to the headphones).

UI and Keys:
- Call answer / end
- Play/Pause
- Skip forward
- Skip back
- Volume

I haven't found any other controls than the first one in the list! Have you?

Cheers,

@mange69

Yes, I was wondering about that as well. The only controls I could find are answer/end and NC on/off. Thanks for your answer regarding the connector. I bought Sony's MDR-NC22 (which HPM-88 was modelled after) knowing that HPM-88 uses a fastport connector. But then I read some contradicting statements of a 3.5mm jack connection and wanted confirmation. MDR-NC22 has this cool monitor button which lets you listen to the ambient sound (in case you want to eaves drop the guy next to you on the train) without pulling out your earplugs No skip track/pause/stop buttons though.

look at the video on your site.... pity it is not 3.5mm ... maybe there is an adapter somewhere on the cable or one that comes with in the box

It's not the first time SE wrote the wrong info on a website...
One other thing with the HPM-88 is that the fastport connector is rather wide, making it impossible to first put the charger in the phone and then the HPM-88 in the charger.

Yes, it's probably an error because it just dawned on me, the Noise Cancelling technology needs power and it feeds off the fastport (using the phone battery). So even if it has a 3.5mm jack adapter and you plug it into, say the W995 3.5mm connector, the headset won't work anyway
