last year we went to our local RSPCA as we wanted to get a rescue dog, and we were extremely lucky to end up with a pure pedigree poodle which was 7 years old. now a year later we're still feeling priviliged to have been able to get this dog as she's a beaut!
there's alot to do before the RSPCA will hand over an animal for rescue/re-homing so the best bet is to go and introduce yourself to your local RSPCA and let them know what you want and to show some interest and if you match their requirements in terms of accomodation and suitability it won't be long before you're matched with what you are looking for.

Thanks for that Masseur your lucky to get a Pedigree,
Poodles are lovely Dogs
I have been intouch with a parrot adoption scheme however they didn't get back intouch with me, ive Joined the RSPCA online and sent them a Enquiry on the subject lets hope they can advise me further!
ive just joined a Parrot forum and im sitting there in tears cos the Birds are Beatiful and I wish i could own one desperatley (I know im sad) lol
ive just wanted one of these birds for such a looong time now ive got my own place it feels like the right time to Enqire

Can I just ask do you work full-time? We've had large parrots all our life and they do require a lot of attention!! they are not the pet if you are at work full-time and actually is neither a dog
Parrots need a lot stimulas to keep them happy otherwise they end up unhappy and stressed which in turn lead to feather plucking to the point of making themselves bleed! and being aggresive, they love human company and like to be placed where they can see everything going on.
As for a dog ive got 6 ranging from a chi to a rottie, which also need a lot of looking after and personally i actually do home checks for the RGT in which we would'nt consider rehoming any dog if she/he was going to be left for more than a max of 4 hours a day.....but like i say this all depends if you work full-time if you dont then its a choice of which you feel you want
Sorry if i sound a bit off putting but ive seen enough unwanted dogs and stressed parrots in my lifetime because a person fancied one as a pet without going into or learning everything there is to need to know before embarking on getting a pet
Forgot to say if you need any addresses etc pm me and ive got a few you can get in touch with

very right shelly, a good pet for a full time worker would be an adult cat, ours can survive easily without us and can be outside for most of the day (9-5) without worries
not the same with a kitten though they need contant attention and looking after. we were also lucky by our cat just came to us house trained and everything. We looked for the owners but couldnt find any so he's ourss!

I don't work fulltime at the moment but that may change as ive been kinda lucky getting past 2 interveiws and got a trial
I understand they need 24/7 care otherwise they go insane many Birds do ive kept pigeons and a goose so I know, everyone needs some attention Birds are the same aswell as any other animal you can't just abandon them for the sake of it..
Ive made some enquiries btw and the birmingham Animal centre is my next bet now so i'll see what happens anyway!

ahh bless he's cute congrats on your new pet if you can get any small fruit tree branches you'll find he'll love these to strip and gnaw lol plus also use some of different thickness as perches which will help his feet as well (more natural than plastic perches)

Im after 4x Bird feeders for the cage as there abit pecked and broken,
he actually escaped through one lol I found him sitting at the pc maybe he was intending to post here lmao!
btw I would like him to come out of the cage but one thing at a time,
when I put items in his cage he's attemping to bite and keeps opening his beak!
im hoping he will eventually get used to me and he will perhaps come and sit by me shame the other owner didn't attempt to bond with him
i'll look-out for new perches Shelly
and of course more toys he's gonna be spoilt of course
I gave him some crispy salad to nibble at and he's lovin that,
when I eat something he's just has to eat too funny bird

one thing about toys is swap them around every few weeks i.e dont let him have them all at once as it can stress them....try giving him some grated carrot mine use to love it and a bit of rich tea biscuit lol
You will be able to get him to bond with you but it will take time ...we use to tame down wild parrots by just spending time talking and feeding titbits, then next stage would be to try and get the bird to step up onto a perch while holding the perch just under its chest....as time went on the perch got shorter till it was replaced by a finger or hand in case of large parrots lol
Im sure you'll have great fun together with the odd bite here and there

Yep and shelly, do they hurt

Nice
You'll have to bond with her before you can let her fly around. Trust me, I know from personal experience
But they are nice birds, none the less. I got a parakeet after mine escaped (remember the personal experience I mentioned? Oh and don't ask me how ), and he's simply adorable

Im gunna buy a BIGGER cage for him cos I think the one I got is too small plus I would like to get him a little lady for companionship it will make my life easier to when im out having to worry about him
is this cage suitable to rehouse him and a lady?

that cage is more than suitable for 2 they will have plenty of room in there together....BUT a word of caution not all get on together, you are best keeping them side by side for a few weeks till they get use to each other...then put them together but keep an eye out as its usually the female's that can be aggressive!....good luck
Posted by Miss UK
Thanks for that Shelly,
I have joined a Parrot forum and have been seeking very useful info as they also mention other Birds like Budgies and Cockatiels
I want to find a pal for "teallie" ive found out that he's a "Cinnamon Cockatiel" not a "Grey Cockatiel" so i'll be needing a pal of his species i think! I wonder if I should try and get him a girlie lol btw..
he sures love my pc

This evening I went and bought a New edition a Cute little Youngster Cinnamon Pied cockatiel she is only a baby alot smaller than "Teallie" and is very Skittish, I took a big risk tonight cos i didn't want to leave her in that Port'e'box any longer once i got home so I opened the box inside "Teallies" cage and out she came, "Teallie reaction was "Wolf whistles galore" then he did some excitment dance, both of them are getting on so I will keep a closer eye on them tonight!
Thats the pair of them
Sandy
