as people are starting to want to see pics taken by the X1, I guess we may as well get this started
actually, the cam takes some of the best pics I've seen in a WM device.
I'll start with a couple of indoor shots just taken, with auto settings and limited indoor light. I'll do some outdoor pics tomorrow.

First, the obligatory coke can that I always do

and then a little Irish gentleman

edit: I realised that its taking quite a long exposure in this light and so I probably shook the camera a bit, so here's another try

outdoor pics should be interesting,

indoor look poor imo!

saying that for a WM device its OK

Posted by adnansanni
Not so good in indoor imo.
@masseur, post some more.

ok, one more for tonight

with the camera light on

and with it off

Posted by Trev1982
Is it me or does the bottom pic look better than the top one ??

Posted by masseur
my wife and I thought that before I posted it. strange really. actually the light doesn't seem to add much at all, except in very dark conditions

Posted by max_wedge
in the first it's added more shadow. Lights and flashes are usually best not used unless absolutely necessary, though multiple lights can reduce shadow, and for close up portraits, fill-in flash can be helpful

I can't tell for certain but it looks like the liquid level in the second shot has gone down. Sure this didn't help to steady the hand a bit?

Posted by masseur
lol, no. in facts its been empty for a while (we do love our Irish coffee's)

here's a quick snap this morning

Posted by mobman
the outdoor pic is very good - although the indoor pics look worse than on the p1i - which is disappointing...

Posted by masseur
how about a little video?

Posted by gforce23
The indoor shots are quite poor tbh, although I'll admit that my eyes are probably accustomed to looking at great shots from the recent 5MP shooters..

Posted by tranced
the indoor pics are not so bad. imo they look fine enough. the outdoor is nice, clear and sharp. the video needs a bit of sharpness.

Is this a production version X1?

Posted by masseur
yes

Posted by jalal
Just got the C905 and hate it. I can't wait to get my hands on the X1. Should be on sale this week.

Posted by plankgatan
can i ask why you hate c905 ???? (is it becuase of the design, or what is it).

xperia is a bit slower then c905 (interface/UI speed, etc) but have a more solid & expensive design

@masseur: cool pics.
but you should use a tripod or something to take indoor pics

Posted by masseur
yeah, I know, but of course there is no tripod mount.

The best that can be done probably is to rest the X1 on something and also for best results you'd need to use the self timer as the shutter button requires a bit of a push

Posted by jalal
@Masseur sorry I'm discussing this in your thread.

@Plankgatan
The version that has Arabic on it has a SW bug when writing an SMS. It doesn't give you a choice of text or MMS. Then on the handset I got the end key wasn't working properly. That's all, its a personal choice call and not to condem the C905.

I have taken a few pics with the cam as well..

Stockholm

Cafe.. reduced the exposure to get shorter shutterspeed and a bit mor coosy lightening.

My windows needs cleaning.. i know..

Autom in Stockholm

Some photographers are better than others, obviously.

How many cameras get blamed for poor photographs or low megapixels when it's really the photographer's lack of skill causing the poor results?

Just a thought...

that Stockholm pic is just great....awesome

Posted by masseur
@joel80, they do look good. I really should learn how to take pics properly and learn what the settings do. I've always been a point and shoot guy.

... and I'll be back in Stockholm in a few weeks for the Christmas markets... can't wait!

Hehe.. thank you, i guess..
A tip is to do as I when taking pics indoor... That is reduce the exposure a bit. The cam seems to want to almost overexpose the pics.
The indoor pic down below in the Cafe is taken down by -2.0. And it's a bit dark if you want to take on a person. Bur you can still take it down to -1.0 or maby even 1.5 if the face of the person is a little mor lit then the background.

I also use to take outdoor pics with -0,5. The tree down below isn't, and the sky is all white in the pics, i should have used -0.5.

Really annoying that the cam doesn't remember my settings from time to time though!

Posted by joel80
I took 2 indoor pics...

Exposure is set down with -1,5 for the computer-pic and -1.0 för the controller.

Posted by adnansanni
@joel80: Nice shots man.

@masseur: Your outdoor pic is good. Just take little bit care next time in indoor shots then see what the result with your unit is.

Really nice sunset pics overlooking the Thames, HMS Belfast and Tower Bridge; that's taken pretty close to Tate & Lyle's HQ methinks.

Posted by masseur
they were taken while walking over London Bridge on my way to London Bridge station

Posted by amawanqa
Close enough, I guess.

Keen to see some more macro shots; hopefully a bit more dabbling with the cam settings will produce better results.

Posted by masseur
I haven't had much success with macro, I can't seem to get it to focus
I have a Sony DSC-T700 which can macro almost as close as you like but the X1 seems to want to be 6 or more inches away

this is about the best I have done. I'll try again with some flowers or something in the daylight

Posted by max_wedge
X1 pictures are not revolutionary, but pretty respectable for a winmo. I wouldn't feel completely ripped off. Well good enough to print quality 6x4 snappies.

Ok my turn to post some pictures.
Shots taken in my appartment in Germany so that's why you see dusts here and there.

I start with indoor shot

and finish with a macro shot

How are you adjusting the exposure? I have looked through the settings but I can't find anything about exposure

I thought I'd try the camera out on the X1...

Here is my first go...

It's not too bad...???

Cheers
ENJOY

A few I took today, not really that impressed by the camera TBH, though its not very often I use it, so no real biggie for me. Would have got the C905 if I wanted a camera phone. Indoor quality is pretty bad though, was trying it in a bowling alley and the shutter speed was so slow, nearly every picture blurred.

This is set to fine mode, rather than normal.
