Tried on my P990, no difference in sound volume through headphones...

By the way, why have you written "if possible"??? Are you not sure of it yourself???

Posted by hgautam
According to you, how much is the difference in volume??? Any idea in percentage???

Edit: Which headphones have you used??? I tried with HPM-85 and found no difference...

This mod work only on quiet smarts, and not at all. On my P1i i have about +40 - +50% volume increased, on another P1i volume increase equal 0!

Posted by hgautam
So it's not yet full proof...

Posted by chlee
Huh, are you serious? When I use my HPM-82 on p1i the volume is WAY TOO LOUD even minimum volume, I need to mp3gain to decrease all my songs volume to 92db! I would say the speaker is too soft, but earphone is too loud! Anyway I have found a teachnique to decrease my volume even further through equaliser.

I really hope p1i has a slide volume control, like that of coreplayer, rather than control by fixed slots.

This patcher has bugs, when the patcher and 1020867a.cre are on my desktop the patcher says it was successfull when it did not even open and patch the file.
I traced it with filemon and it somehow was inserting stuff into the path instead of opening
C:\\Documents and Settings\\user\\Desktop\\1020867a.cre
It tried to open:
C:\\Documents and Settings\\user\\Desktop\\Settings\\user\\Desktop\\1020867a.cre
So of course it failed to open the file to patch it

I copied the files to e:\\tmp and ran it from there and it patched the file sucessfully as the file had a different cksum.

Not tested the volume yet, only have a DS220 BT headset with me at the moment, not sure if it suposed to affect BT stereo headphones?

Anyone using the patcher might want to run it in

@Spattinson
Yes! The patcher have bug! Thank you!

@all
If patching was true successfuly than must be backup file created! "1020867a.cre.bak"
Use it on root dir (c:\). Should work.

I use HPM-85 and the sound indoors at silence is only acceptable for me... Outdoors the volume ain't anything... I ain't deaf and I love loud music...

@swmail:

The patched file works great. The volume increase is really noticeable (as you mentioned, around 40% - 50%). However, this only works for wired headphones. With A2DP Bluetooth headphones the volume is still low. I noted something interesting though: With the wired headphones I set the multimedia volume to 60%. Afterwards, when I paired the Bluetooth headphones, I noticed that the volume was set to 100%. Could it be possible that for Bluetooth devices, there is a "second multimedia volume" control? (a separate .cre file, perhaps?). I'd like to run some additional tests to double check it, but I wonder if you noticed the same thing or not. If my theory is not true, do you believe the Bluetooth device is limiting the sound directly? Great job anyway!

Mr. Bousmart

In my case the volume level (wired headphones and A2DP) on my P990 did not change.
I just copied the modded cre file to the relevant folder on drive C and restarted the phone. This specific file did not exist on my P990 before I copied it, so I wonder how the OS finds out it has to use this file. Perhaps we are supposed to modify another file to point to this one.

The MOD is working perfectly well, i see great changes in output of sound, but its only through wired handsfree.
well hats off SWMAIL.
During music play, if you get a call or message, the alert sound is also amplified so be careful of your ears.

Super!!!!Super!!!!Super!!!!Super!!!!Super!!!! works grate i get abou 50 % sound boost coolest!!!!!!!!!!!!

wow wow wow love my p990 now more than++++++++++++++

Ok, I have some additional news on this MOD: There is NO separate volume for Bluetooth devices. Even more, Bluetooth is not either the cause of the low volume problem. The low volume will remain in all devices with an INDEPENDIENT VOLUME CONTROL. I used a wired device that provides mini-jack headphones output and the results were the same.

Long story short: If you want to tell the audio gains of this MOD, use a pair of headphones with NO built-in audio control.

No, during music play with default player call does not have the alert tone but only a duoble beep. Same with radio.

@ CHLEE
That BEAP SOUND is exactly what i was talking about bro.
@SWMAIL
if i use hpm 62 the sound increases but when i use hpm 75 the sound remains to the default low levels, can u explain me why?

Posted by mode
Kudos to SWMAIL. This is an exciting development and a most welcome effort. Does it increase the music volume from the speaker as well?

What about the sound volume while listening to the radio?

Posted by gezer
i could find the .cre file you said in c:\\pri...\\102...\\persists\\ folder. thereare a lot of cre files but there isnt that you said.
my phone is p990 and i done the access system folders patch successfully.

Posted by gezer
no help?

i'll just need the correct .cre file that you have. so i'll be able to search it more easily (searching by size, or content etc.)
and you will be not responsible for any breaks on my phone

thanks.

Posted by gezer
"1020867a.cre"
the explain is too clean for me. but there isn't the file at the path. i searched it in other directories but it wasnt there. i hope you understand.

Posted by mode
Well...? What about the speaker volume, is it increased as well? Anyone??

Posted by wickedass
nopes the speaker volume has not increased.

the multimedia i.e mp3,video and radio volume has increased thru the earphones.

Posted by mode
Bummer. I'll wait till the speaker volume is modded then, thanks for the reply

Posted by chlee
If you can mod the volume control (slots) to a sliding bar (with percentage volume control) then I kowtow to you.

Posted by gezer
at last, i'd been able to do this. i find the cre file by searching, but i'm still confused about how i couldn't find the file?

it rocks! i'm using big earphones and megabass, it's perfect!
omfg!

before i do this mod, %100 volume was not enought for me, but now its too enough for me at %60-%70!

TY VERY MUCH SWMAIL! i got the sound performance from my phone as i wanted.

Hello

I have the problem that my internal ear speaker on the SE P1i is very low. Does this boost the volume on the internal ear speaker during calls as well?

THX for your help

Chris

Posted by QVGA
why doesnt this work with A2DP. wats the reason behind that

Posted by sigea

I guess its made only for wired headphones.

Sound mod lite for wired headphones increased volume

sound mod full for rear speaker volume increase

Posted by Sator1973
Works fine on G900.

Posted by Tonio78370
Just installed this mod.

Takes some fiddling to get to the file but once that's done and installed it works just fine on my P1i.

Thanks
