Ok, the itch seems to be incurable, I just fancy trying a BB for a bit to see if I can warrant moving to one full time. If I don't, I'll flea-bay it

So, who's got a Blackberry and whats the cheapest one going?

Posted by Nanu
Yasman has an 8707v which would be worth a look in and will probably be the cheapest you'll get hold of! PM him!

Posted by PeterKay
got one but not for sale (yet)

Posted by Daedalus85
I'll even go as low at the 7xxx series if the price is right lol

Thanks for the Yasman tip, I'll have a word with him

What about a 7100x?

Posted by Daedalus85
Possibly, seems like an early Pearl (I guess it is really).

Just to let everyone know, I still have a Samsung Z400, unlocked unbranded, a Nokia 5300 locked to O2 and unbranded, and a K610im thats unlocked but MMS, GPRS and 3G only work on O2 i-mode, but other than that unbranded. I can offer these as trades (one or two, not all three lol), or if just one trade then some money your way too.

Just to clarify, as I should have said something earlier realy, it'd HAVE to be unlocked and compatible with O2's Blackberry service or else I couldn't really use it lol

Speak to Marc_Se otherwise i have a 7290...theres a classic

Posted by Daedalus85
Hmmm, just looking at the 7290 now. Would have to be pretty cheap, but it does have the wider screen and real keys over the 7100x....

Shame about the resolution of the screen though, 240*160, how does it look compared to some of the newer ones?

What do you want? A barbie or a GI Joe?

The 7290 is awesome. If they had decent screens and a camera, they would p*ss over the other BBs

Posted by Daedalus85
lol, fair enough

Any idea of a rough price? Or fancy taking something from my little treasure chest of phones from above? ^^^

I think you would prefer the 7100x for the screen. Sure Type is ok...just get used to it. Scottt has a Pearl...ask him.

Fatreg has SureType too

Posted by Daedalus85
I know I can't afford it, but I would just DIE for a Curve. I think I prefer the larger screen/keyboard thing about all of them. But alas, no monies :/ Maybe when I've recovered from my car costing £500+ in the space of 2 weeks (I only get paid £700 a month!) then I'll look into a real BB, but for now, the cheaper the better

Posted by Berry
Well see what Marc has otherwise i got to go digging.

Posted by Marc_SE
PM replied to mate.

Posted by scottt
You want a Pearl buddy, got one yesturday and cant put it down hehe

Even the W960i i got today has'nt really had a look in yet....

Posted by Daedalus85
The way I see it is, this one will be a 'test dummy' until I can afford a real BB, just to see if I get enough e-mails that I need to read during the day to actually warrant it. I wonder if you can use BB's on P&G, cause I'm not so sure I'd want to give up my beautiful Nokia 5610 as my day phone

Posted by scottt
Not sure you can use em on PAYG matey.... AFAIK you can only add the Blackberry tariff onto an existing contract.... Unless you start a new contract with a BB plan already

Posted by Berry
BB isnt just about emails - its an overall package.

It more about the convenience.

And to answer about the P&G - No you cant but you can have a Pay As You Use added to your contract however at £2.75 per mb, go for the £10 unlimited plan.

(p.s - Pay as you go will be available at some point)

Posted by Daedalus85
Well, I've got a staff tariff so I can have either 75mb of Internet or bb unlimited for free, but I don't want to give up my nokia 5610 yet, so I wanted a separate sim for it. Turns out pay and go simply doesn't support push and pull bb so its not the cost that's an issue really.

Nm, will have to think up some other way of doing it, still want the bb though

I dont care either way, but responding to a question....
I'd like to think seeing at BB are my bread and butter that i know whats going on...

Again free bump

Truth is with T-Mobile you can get a free simcard from them on a rolling month contract and add BIS to it, this is what I did to start with and it cost me £15/month, ok I only got 50mins of calls with it, but it was a way in and is as disposable as PAYG!

Posted by below24
I have a black 7230

The silver is missing. around the screen, but the battery is fine. So i like it, that was my first blackberry. And i still see people on the tube with it.

This is not the original image of the phone. just added as an example.

Looks like a Classic

Posted by Berry
No Bluetooth though and actually the 7290 is the up one from this. Has various small modifications, but essentially looks the same.

Posted by Daedalus85
Cheapest I've seen so far is a 7290 (like the above but with BT as tmagberry just stated) for £25 delivered, anyone care to beat that with anything they may have? It ends at lunchtime on Friday so I'll leave this thread open until then.

Just Buy It MAN.

Posted by Daedalus85
Lol, I KNOW! I'm terrible when it comes to commitments and decisions. I'm the guy who literally takes 25 minutes deciding what to get from the Chinese takeaway lol

I've found an unlocked 7290v with a free cradle or holster for £28 delivered, I may just go with that for the sake of it being unlocked and with a free cradle or holster.

I may get that, aaaah, decisions decisions

Why get Voda Branding when you can get the O2 one i sent you earlier?

Posted by Daedalus85
Well true, but the sellers saying its pretty much unbranded and all stickers are removed and cleaned off I think.

Plus the fact it's unlocked as I was thinking today, if I'm going to get a BB only tariff to use alongside my phone, then it won't matter which network I go with. While O2 would be nice, they won't give me staff discount on BB only tariffs.

And I figured it's only £4 more

just get a BB!! the 7290 is a cool BB, was the first BB I got, that tbag now has, or did have!

I have about 4 or 5 and i remember you activating BIS in Tescos!

Posted by Daedalus85
Well I'm bidding on one that ends in about 2 hours for £13 delivered. You can bet I've jixed it now though and I won't get it

Posted by fatreg
^ well that was 4 hours ago..

did you win?

@ tbag, indeed, one phone call and BIS activated on the o-range within 5 mins! now that's service...

Posted by Berry
Reggie,

He didnt get it albeit i gave him a BIN for £25....

Posted by Daedalus85
Sorry, been at work, the above post was on my break mid-day.

No, didn't win it, but I'm prolly going for this one:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBay[....]ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT&ih=011

Mainly cause it's unlocked and comes with a cradle, to keep the resale value up a bit.

Posted by fatreg
well that was 20 mins ago and it's till available on a buy it now!?

for why?

sort it James!!

Posted by Daedalus85
lol I know, sorry, I'm terrible!

Fine, for the sake of a few quid, I'll buy it

You'll all grow to hate because of this, if not all ready. I really AM the pickiest person in the world, and for no reason either!

Posted by fatreg
you'll love the BB so it's all good

You'll love it so much you'll want a pearl2 soon!

Posted by Daedalus85
Well, as I do these things alot, at the eleventh hour I've decided to buy Marc's 7100x lol, if he lets me.

After playing with a Pearl for the last 24 hours, the Suretype thing is fine and the compact size seems better to me till I can afford a Curve

I know, I know

I'm literally the worst. Never try and make me choose something to get from a takeaway, I'll be there for hours!

Posted by Daedalus85
Bought Marc's 7100x pending payment.

Woo! Blackberry baby! Here I come

Posted by Berry
Get your BB Plan sorted

Posted by Daedalus85
Have done, sort of.

Rang O2 today, their switching my plan over tommorrow. So rather than getting 75MB of free data, I now get BB Unlimited for free

Only problem is I can't change back again for 3 months, but oh well, will just use the BB until then even if I don't get on with it

That brings me onto part 2 I guess...

This doesn't really warrant a new thread, so I'll leave it in here.

I started looking around for the best Blackberry ONLY tariff. So no minutes, no texts, just literally unlimited (or a reasonable ammount) Blackberry usage.

I don't mind if it does or doesn't come with a device (charge or no charge), just the tariff is all I need right now.

The best, funnily enough, that I've found is O2. £15/month, 12 month contract, unlimited BB and web on a BB, and either an 8100 or 8300 for £19.99 (with trade in) or a 8310 or 8120 for £49.99 (with trade in).

Voda, T-Mobile and CPW staff seemed 'too busy' (in other words, too uninterested ) to talk to me today when I went in and hung about for ages. I never go to P4U, it's like walking into a lions den...

Had a lovely long chat with the lady in Orange, but their BB tariffs seem crap. They were offering £10 on top of a standard voice package (which start at £25!) for just 6MB of BB data and e-mail. 6MB!

So, anyone got any better deals they can think of? Sim-only would be a nice option if I could get it. How much do you guys pay for yours?

Posted by awave
wow...they're all pretty expensive tbh...wouldnt mind working for someone like o2 if they give you discounts like that tho!

do you know whether they'd give jobs to 16year olds on a part-time-basis (saturdays)?

i'm looking to see what i can get once i turn 16 in a few months..

and you seem to have got a good one there

Posted by Daedalus85
Sorry, their minimum recruitment age is 18.

And I didn't mention any discounts there, all thats stuff about the BB tariffs is available to anyone

My staff discounts are a whole other ball game. 15 lots of 30% off the Online tariffs for friends and family 10% off pay as you go phones (we never use that one, it's pants), and for myself: 1000 minutes, 1000 texts, unlimited calls or texts on saturday, sunday and monday, plus either 75MB of internet or BB Unlimited free. All on a 12 month contract for £20 a month.
