"The Finland giant Nokia silently released the highly expected and speculated Nokia N82 Black version. The phone appeared nowhere else but in the USA Nokia online store with an "Unlocked" status. The sleek Nokia N82 Black version is already available for purchase at a price of $629.00 with free shipping for USA.
Let's refresh your memory with the Nokia N82 main features, starting with the HSDPA with video calls and quad-band GSM support. The 100MB of integrated memory is complemented by the microSD memory slot. The 2.4" 16M color QVGA TFT display is among the other highlights.
Nokia N82, a phone we reviewed in detail, is pretty much identical in hardware to the N95. It has 5 megapixel autofocus camera with Carl Zeiss optics, capable of capturing 30fps MPEG4 videos at VGA resolution, and has a TV-out port to watch those on your TV set.
The most significant difference to the Nokia N95 is however the built-in xenon flash which highlights the photo-centric nature of the Nokia N82, as well as the screen auto rotation.
You also have built-in GPS receiver that works with Nokia Maps. Compatibility with third-party software is not confirmed yet.
Meanwhile Nokia released three new titles from the new N-Gage platform. They may not be much but it seems to us as if the official start of the N-gage is just around the corner. After all it was about time as Nokia have been promising it for quite a while now.
The three new titles are: Space Impact: Kappa Base, System Rush: Evolution and Creatures of the deep. However, as we managed to confirm only the first was somewhat amusing. At this stage the games are only compatible with Nokia N81 (it's good that we have one around) but soon the other N-Gage enabled devices owners will be able to enjoy them.

Still we hope Nokia hurries with the full-scale start of the gaming platform as the users are becoming increasingly impatient with these delays."

'THEM SELVES' hype their phones. The hype is caused by members on forums, websites etc!

...But I don't understand references to 'hype' or lack of to be more precise.
This is simply a phone that has already been released, coming out in a different colour...any mobile manufacturer trying to gain some mileage by hyping that, is surely sitting on a pretty empty 'new products' portfolio. That doesn't sound like Nokia, now does it!

lol my upgrade is is April too, O2 are trying to charge me £100 for a N95 8gig phone at the moment lol, but me will wait till the price comes down. this one looks good tho, but not keen on it, cuz of the memory of only 2 gig

a nokia symbian cant be compared with any other brand fone imo. doesnt matter how they look like, that os is simple brill and next to it the great support is also very high ranked aswell ( at least in my eyes )

A member of staff in the Nokia store in London told me that the N82 black would be exclusive to one network in the UK as well as being available sim free. I checked the Carphone Warehouse at the weekend and they said they have no details which would indicate a network exclusive. I asked at the O2 store and they said that it would not be available on their network.
I'm hoping that they are wrong and the new simply hasn't filtered through to the stores yet. Would prefer to buy a discounted one than pay £400 for a sim free model.

There has been no info at O2 about this, so the sales staff don't know.
I'll ask our Nokia rep when he comes in tomorrow or Wednesday, but if he doesn't know I'd guess it'd be O2. Nokia seem to like us when it comes to colour exclusives right now

N82 Black is out now! Let me do a quick unboxing photo...
We have all been waiting for the Black N82 for months. Finally here it comes. I asked and asked to get the last remaining one and take some fresh unboxing photos for forum sharing. I think since the N82 is a famous “N”, I don’t really need to say anything technically.
Freshly out of the box. It is an Asian version.
A lot of goodies come with the N82. Charger, Battery, 2GB MicroSD, USB Cable, earphones, CD, and strangely a AV cable.
The main point is the black colour. I like this black version more than the others.
Xenon flash, 5 mega pixel camera with Carl Zeiss lens.
Keypad is too small and thin. It is actually difficult to use.
MicroSD card slot on the side. This time is not a rubber cover.
Included standard earphones. Nokia does not come with inside the ear headphones right? Why?
Big and sharp screen.
Web browsing to plemix…
And we can move around the frontpage to the N82 highlight box….
I am not sure if you N82 owners are aware of that. The phone actually has a lot and a lot of buttons around the phone. Except for the bottom end of the phone which only has a microphone hole, buttons are located all 5 sides of it. On the front, included the 12 keypads, there are 24 buttons on that small area. Wow.

That keypad didn't worry me so much though, it was the lack of North American (US 3G) that did it for me. K850i was subsidized and offered Tri-band 3G along with a nice video calling package. Now that Rogers has the N95-4 8GB version, I'm hoping that the late auction will help reduced internet pricing on phones that they DON'T carry.

Am i wrong in saying the black one is only on Orange. I want this phone but also for some reason i dont see this phone in O2 brochure or Vodafone brochure. I thought it would be on both networks.

You can get it on O2 through CPW but I dont think it will make it to O2 direct (silver version btw not black).
