Beautiful to use: Nokia unveils three new handsets that merge modern functionality with classic and sophisticated looks
April 28, 2008

Espoo, Finland - Nokia today unveiled a trio of mobile devices that balance stunning and sophisticated looks with the latest in mobile functionality. All three devices, the Nokia 6600 fold, the Nokia 6600 slide and the Nokia 3600 slide present a smooth, minimalist design and an appealing array of easy-to-use features. The devices range in price from 175 EUR to 275 EUR before taxes and subsidies and are expected to start shipping during the third quarter of 2008.

"There is a strong consumer demand for mobile handsets that blend elegant looks with modern features," said Mikkel Drucker, Director, Connect Devices. "Each of the three devices introduced today offers a slightly different take on a core design language. We believe they are both beautiful to use and beautiful to behold - and offer a range of choice."

Nokia 6600 fold - Smart and sophisticated looks
With one touch of a button, the elegant Nokia 6600 fold smoothly opens to reveal a stunningly bright 2.13'' OLED screen displaying up to 16 million colors. With its seamless design, the signature "smooth back" of the Nokia 6600 fold creates a comfortable contour when open, and remains subtle and compact when closed. The high-gloss surface of the Nokia 6600 fold comes to life when tapped twice to "wake up" the hidden outer display that reveals time, incoming messages, missed calls and more. A double tap on the Nokia 6600 fold also snoozes alerts and silences or rejects incoming phone calls.

Nokia 6600 slide - Compact and balanced
Being one of Nokia's smallest sliders to date, the Nokia 6600 slide stays true to its name as it smoothly glides open in the hand. The appearance of the Nokia 6600 slide with its glossy, high-quality steel covers and aluminium center key constitute both understated elegance as well as visual simplicity. Its well-balanced feature set is created to be exciting and intuitive. Tapping the Nokia 6600 slide twice conveniently indicates time, snoozes, alerts and silences or rejects incoming phone calls.

Nokia 3600 slide - Contemporary combination
The Nokia 3600 slide aims to win hearts with a blend of tasteful colors, materials and tactile finishes, and minds with a full range of the latest features. Soft ceramic paint and metal combined with high gloss surfaces and gradated colors to make the Nokia 3600 slide beautiful to both touch and see. The Nokia 3600 slide is equally beautiful to hear as it is the first Nokia product to feature background noise cancellation. With a built-in music player the Nokia 3600 slide offers up to 3000 favorite songs on an optional 4 microSD card.

The small, ergonomically shaped Nokia 3600 slide also delivers a 3.2 megapixel camera with autofocus and 2 LED flash and is excellent for taking pictures or videos, even in dim lighting conditions. The TV-out feature, which conveniently connects the Nokia 3600 slide to most television sets, ensures quick and easy sharing of pictures and videos.

While the beauty of the Nokia 3600 slide will tell the world about its owner, the pre-installed Nokia Maps application with an optional Nokia Bluetooth GPS Module LD-4W will tell the owner a lot about the world they are in. The Nokia Maps application holds more than 15 million points of interests, including restaurants, shops, hotels and more.

Nokia N810 Internet Tablet WiMAX Edition unleashes an open Internet experience, demonstrating the mobile future of web services

Espoo, Finland - Ushering in the next generation of wireless broadband devices, Nokia (NYSE: NOK) today unveiled its newest Nseries device, the Nokia N810 Internet Tablet - WiMAX Edition, Nokia's first device engineered to take advantage of new wide-area high-speed mobile WiMAX networks. This pocket-sized device lets consumers enjoy an open Internet experience, allowing for access to the full Internet without barriers, while on the go. The Nokia N810 WiMAX Edition is the latest iteration of Nokia's popular line of Internet Tablet products. For the first time, the power and convenience of the Internet Tablet platform is combined with next generation wide-area wireless broadband capability, allowing users to easily and quickly access all of their favorite Internet services beyond local area hot spots. The Nokia N810 WiMAX Edition is expected to be available in the United States during the summer of 2008 in areas where WiMAX connectivity is available.

WiMAX is a standards-based wireless broadband technology that delivers an open Internet experience similar to that of fixed broadband technologies with typical data download speeds of up to 2-4 Mbps per user with peak download speeds of up to 10 Mbps. Unlike current single point local area technologies like Wi-Fi which have a range of a few hundred feet, WiMAX networks consist of a number of interconnected base stations, each with a radius of up to 2-3 miles, that allow for handoffs from one base station to another as users move about a region or metro area. Additionally, WiMAX networks integrate technology designed to maximize the quality of service for each subscriber.

w610 or w660 wasnt nicer either with that flower motive at the red edition on the back...

Posted by Aware
No boba, you're correct(it was W660)...but of course, that was a relatively cheap 6-series, not a £300 fashion flagship!

Also look at Contrasted Copper S500i's detail, looks classier in it's colouring!

Still think 7500 looks nicer(only materials are cheap) than 7900!

Posted by *Jojo*
Looks like th design was derived from the: Citibank Bldg. in Hong Kong

Posted by BobaFett
design is questinable, that right, but i wouldnt call 7900 a flagship fone. it could be interesting for thos, who cant go for the sapphire sirocco

Posted by Dextrr
Like it or not this phone will sell! All the Louie Vuitton, Coach and Prada fashionistas will be buying it because it has a "crystal" embedded! At the price it's selling Nokia will make a good profit.

Posted by Mizzle
I think this will actually be much better looking in real life.

I dont know what is wrong with you people, but that is a beautiful head turner!

Bloggers, chatter and for people who cannot live without being on the web.
Who love qwerty keypad, who love touch screen ,who love wide screen high resolution pc like experience.

Nokia Makes phone 4 all.

Posted by BobaFett
yeah, thats right, but i never saw any internet rtablet at usage yet and i come pretty much around among ppl, who use internet every day... so the idea is nice, but i dont think its a big hit... if it would have fone feature, that would offer it better chances imo

lol. another release. this is what i hate with nokia they always release new phones that lowers the reputation of the phones released earlier. the value is reduced. and the design is still the same (eg. the prism one) and it sucks!

seemed like the designer of it was drunk when he conceptualized it hehehe

o, they look like very similar to other nokia phones, what kind of cra* is that!

not being serious at all, just what some people would say about phones... its not just , or nokia, who does it!

good to see more music offerings coming to the lower ranges...

Posted by darknoob
I hope SE will start also put 3.5mm and a audio chip in thier walkman phones=/ Nokia's designs are bad...

Posted by crossmatched
ditto here

the phones have lovely designs. the only thing missing is the dedicated audio chip. but imo it will come sooner.

I'm still waiting for a true N91 successor. A phone solely concentrating on music and music alone!!

220 Euros for a S60(FP2, btw) music/gaming phone is cracking pricing......

@QVGA, unfortunately, Nokia won't ever produce another N-series with just ONE strength, like N91 had...N95 put paid to that theory......
...and of course, it won't sound as LOUD ever again, due to EU noise restrictions(all because some 'clever' people couldn't work out how to turn volume down )......

Posted by Davo_169
wow that crystal prism one is awesome looking!
what a beautiful phone

not that you arent doing a good job or anything......

.....but i think it would be better if each announcement had their own thread, like the phones etc etc. And like Masseur has done today.

Much easier to follow imho.

U have to consider there aren't much interest in Nokia at esato. And if u have noticed The new thread of announcement.Of which 3 phones were announced today there are hardly any reply/discussion so far.And if u look at G502/T303/z770i discussion as an example there almost 40 to 50 replys for each phones

As for this thread i knew that there are not going to be much discussion about these phones. And this is for people of esato to just know about the new nokia announcements.

I have to say unless its a high end Nseries or Eseries i dont think it needs seperate thread for each phone. As theres not going to be much discussion about these
