P990i Back-up compatability problem

My P990i broke so i got it replaced. I backed up my old phone thinking that it would be just a case of plugging in the new one and then restoring the information but i get the error 'The selected backup is not compatible with the connected mobile phone'

Can anyone offer a way round this?
