I like it! (though you won't catch me flying it!)

Posted by Johnex
Why not? You sound like a good pilot!

Posted by masseur
I am a good pilot but I'm not a crazy pilot!

Posted by Johnex
Thats not crazy, actually looks quite fun.

Posted by axxxr
wow that looks really cool.

Does that get classed as a Toy so i can fly one without a pilots license?

Did i just see a couple more of the same ones in the forground as it landed?

I wonder what model/make they are?

Hang on in there just a wee second...lock this thread...lock this thread!

I had a thread about this a couple of years ago:

The Smallest plane in the world

Posted by Johnex
Damn it!

Posted by axxxr
No ones going to lock it not to worry...i won't let them!

I was just kidding!

Btw can you find out how much a Cri-Cri cost?

Posted by Johnex
Some people are willing to pay under 5000 us dollars on the fan site here:
http://flight.cz/cricri/english/cri-cri-wanted.php

Posted by axxxr
Thats a pretty good price.

I know of Radio Controled ones that go for a lot more than that.

But i presume the Insurance for light aircraft is quite high?

masseur would know about that.

Posted by Johnex
Well, i would guess it is, but shouldn't....

Posted by masseur
it depends on its certification

if its fully certified (i.e. been through an air worthy inspection with the FAA/CAA etc) it will be expensive to insure

if its certification is as an experimental aircraft it will very expensive to insure!

That makes it expensive then?

Posted by axxxr
Yeh but it will Only be expensive as masseur said if it hasn't passed FAA/CAA Certification, which this may have done?

seeing that the the Cri-Cri has been around for a few years now i presume it would have passed all the safety standards...possibly?

John now find out it if has passed them or not?

Quote from chron.com:
"
If an typical ultralight is like a motorcycle in the sky, this this thing is like a go-cart in the sky

This incredible little flying machine warps all kinds of expectations about ultralights. It's weight (165 lbs, empty) allows it to fall within the limits of an ultralight, but it's way too fast at 114mph (cruise). Plus, the FAA isn't fond of twin engine aircraft that are unregulated. So, the irony is, here is a very lightweight aircraft, but it flies too fast to be an ultralight, and the twin engines would prevent it from being in the Light Sport Aircraft category, so the only way (in the U.S.) to legally fly this is if it were an Experimental-Amateur Built category aircraft.

I'd bet anything that it's a blast to fly!"

So it is experimental hehe. Masseur, fork out some money for it man.

Wow, look at that thing go!

Posted by max_wedge
I doubt they'd bother insuring it!!

If you are into light aircraft with power then this is it:
http://www.aeroprakt.kiev.ua/eng_html/main.html
Check out the a36 (the latestest and most roomy luxurious version) and the a26. Both are setup for twin engines. the a36 comes standard with the rotax 912 engine. It will do some 138mph(260km/h) max. But both the aircraft can be ordered with the rotax 914 engine. This can take them above the 320km/h mark. All this in a safe aircraft (with a parachute for the fusalage) that will set you back about the same as a new Porsche Cayenne S. This aircraft is certified so insurance will only be expensive.

Cheers
