To tie in with the release of Vista, MS have created Messenger 8.1.To me it looks almost identical to the predecessor, but they've added in a few nifty features, including roaming identities (where your display name and picture remain the same wherever you go); the contact cards have been updated; the menus for emoticons, winks, backgrounds and display pictures have been improved; you can now send your contact picture as an emoticon and report abuse; plus a whole bunch of other features.

Yeah I updated the other day, there is nothing really visually different but there are a few new useful features.

Has it changed from the Beta version which has been available for about 6months or so?
I have been using it for some time with no problems and it is much better than the old version. Mainly a collection of small improvements and of course it looks better

Yep the Beta Versions been out for quite some time,as is for these type of applications.

But this is of course the Final "Bug Free" Official Version in all its glory!

Well Beta versions of anything are never perfect.

for example Vista was a Free download for over 2 years on Beta.

what a waste of my mb usage its indentical.... i see no differences...the beta version was bug free...

It is pretty much the same as the final beta though that is probably because the beta was near enough bug free anyway in my experience.
