Hi Guys,
11 Months ago I purchased a D600 on my £20 per month o2 online tariff for only £79.95 not a bad price back then, but anyhows nearr the time again to upgrading myphone ive made some enquiries to o2 online about prices of these phones eg the

N73 £179.99
K800i £129.99
Z650i £199.99

Im really disgusted what the hell is going on how can a Samsung Z650i be more than a Silver K800i? when thats only got a 2.0MP Camera

I then phoned my local o2 shop they Quoted me £135 for that Samsung still £5 more than the K800i lol

does anyone have any light into whats happening with the Upgrade prices??? cos atm it really seems pointless having a contract especially when prepay phones are near enough the same price as the contract upgrades

Ps, let me just say ive also changed my contract so im now paying £25 per month, even that makes no difference it seems in a reduction

It's not about how much your contract is... The networks make there money when you go over you preset bill!

do that more often and ya upgrade fee's will plumet!

Posted by Miss UK
Are u sure? I mean for this month my bill is £36.86 lol

Go through to the disconnections dept and ask for your pac code. Your upgrade should get a lot better then.

Networks are only interested in new customers

Burgaz is correct.
With 02. If your monthly bill is £50 or more per month (including line charge + calls,SMS etc) for 6 consecutive months they then put you as a 02 Select customer.
This entitles you to:

10% discount on accessories purchased from 02
Early upgrade of your handset (up to 3 months early)
Free calls to their customer care centre in the UK
Tarrif review every 3 months

There is some other things but I dont have the card with me atm

The condition is that your monthly bill must not drop below £50 per month.

they are silly prices, i better get offered a much better deal in febuary, saying that last year i got th 8800 for £9.99, average monthly spend was £40

Posted by PeterKay
I'm due an upgrade in Jan, paying around 40 pounds a month. What can i expect if i go ahead with the upgrade, its on O2?

Posted by Miss UK
They charged me £10 for a 3g sim card, I really wanna stay with o2 but there getting way to expensive. I got told if I was paying £35 per mth id get a free Z650i you guys paying that £40 should get a free phone no both.

They charged you for a 3g sim card Kerry ?????

They sent mine for free after I bought my K800.

When I did my upgrade I was ofered the following (my monthly bills inc calls, sms, gprs usage etc are £70 per month)

K800 - Free
W850 - Free
P990 - £50

They were the only phone I'd asked about. I went for the W850 as I'd already got the K800 and 02 couldn't give a definite date on when I'd get the P990.

I've been on contract with orange for 10years now and when i asked them to upgrade my 2G sim to a 3G sim (without buying a 3G handset from them) they told me to sod off! The only way i can get one from them is by upgrading to a 3G handset.... So think yourselves lucky!

Posted by Miss UK
Andy yeah,
they put this charge on because I had a replacement sim card a few months ago due to a blocked phone which mucked my sim card up I can't really argue over that, im just abit shocked on how much phones have gone up, o2 give discounts when you upgrade rather than go online and pay £200 for that Samsung which I want i'd rather go to the shop cos they've quoted me £135 for it, who knows if im lucky I might get more of it!!!!

I really only wanted to pay £20 per month line rental,
I think im gunna try my luck with them saturday morning on the phone again, they did tell me I could have a discount but I had to upgrade first, but ive changed my tariff thats the thing so I don't know if this applies fingers cross't btw

I also asked o2 if they could give me a block on my phone if it reached over £40 what they told me was no they don't do that, pretty ovious they want you to get into trouble like everything else

BTW this new tariff would be good if I could get it reduced I mean for £25 per month ive got 1000 off peak calls after 7pm to any network, 500 free text messages, I can also send MMS fre with those but it uses up 4 Texts to do that

I do hope something good comes out with there tariffs eventually
200 anytime minutes and 500 free texts plus 5MB free of GPRS would be boshahhh lmao!

Andy I can't believe you pay that much, you must have more money then sense

Leight, Why don't you come to the "o2 side" :lol;
I think orange contracts are pants.

I got my w800 and w850i free on upgrade from t mobile. My total bill including line rental for two phones is never over £40

Posted by Miss UK
T-mobile are trying very hard to keep there customers oviousley

I remember when i had my 2 o2 contracts. Bills were always over £80 a month on both (dont ask me lol i still have all my bills that are high) one month both came to £440 i paid it but still they offered me a shite upgrade so binned them both and went to Orange P&G and very happy!!

I get:

250 minutes anytime
500 texts + an additional 40 free texts via 02 treats
Inclusive browse and download

For £30 a month

My bill is £76.16 this month and I stayed within my limit except for data calls (Video calls, Browsing via GPRS) which bumps the price up a bit.

kerry just go on t-mobile if no-one will offer you a good enough contract

their flext deals are amazing!!!!

ill tell u what i did, i told them i was looking for a new phone and found a good deal, and ask them what they can offer me, at first they quoted the same price for the k800i - £129.99 (this was when it came out bout what 4months back?) i was on a £15 a month tariff (i just use it to get a upgrade every year, like buying a phone on credit really. i told them that i thought they would offer me something better then that, i ended up with o2 250 (250mins anynetwork 100text) + 300 extra text a month all for 19.99 a month with the phone free....i was quite proud of that. o2 start to panic once they think your going to leave.

Posted by Residentevil
They only care about larger fish. Until then they do the bait and switch. Bait you with a good deal and then try to bump you up over the years. It is the same everywhere.

Posted by s.mark
havent you guys on O2 noticed lately, that the prices of gprs are soaring? I have K800, and have been using Jimm (icq), which is text only, regulary for about a year, and little bit of Opera mini for about a year. But last couple of months my bills are massive, especially for the gprs data. usually O2 charges me around 30-40 pounds for gprs in a month!!!!

Posted by apolloa
I got the following 18 month Orange upgrade deal, needed to upgrade to keep my number the same:

325 cross network anytime minuites
300 off peak Orange to Orange minuites
150 text
Magic number
All per month and I got the SE P990I free on this deal and the price is £30 a month.

I thought it was a good deal.

Anyone on O2 hold off upgrading until after 26th of December, handset prices are due to drop.

Posted by Residentevil
Do you have a after xmas sale.

How much you pay a month?

I'm hoping i get a better upgrade offer from O2 next year, my bill is usually around the £50 mark every month..... Holding my breath to see what T-Mobile offer me, its only a £22.50 flext tariff

Posted by Miss UK
Andy god you must use your phone an awful lot then

Lee, ive just upgraded yesterday I paid £119.99 for the Samsung Z650i

best thing about that phone is it's only available on o2 cos of i-Mode it's not coming on on any other network so ive got something thats not so common

I really love the phone btw it's so seksy lol

Posted by scottt
£119.99 sheesh. Would it not of been cheaper to end your contract then take a new one out? As its free on online 25 (the cheapest O2 online tariff, £25).

Posted by Miss UK
I could've had it free if I was paying over £30..
£120 int alot I can live with it btw just waiting for the right time to place my crap K750i on fleBay now

im gunna enquire after 6 months about a line rental reduction anyways

Posted by scottt
You paying £25 a month on a 12 month contract right? Coz if so if you had of gone to a £30 contract and got the phone free you would've of only paid £60 more of the course of the contract rather than pay out £120 for the phone. But meh least ya happy. Looks quite nice Is it just like an E900 with i-mode?

Posted by Miss UK
Yeah I know I couldve done that but didn't really want o2 fathing bout with money in my bank, they have placed another £10 on my bill this month.. my bill is about £46.80 now cos of the bloomin 3G sim card

I don't know what the E900's interface is like,
but it has the sensitive keypad just like it

I'd say the phones alot like a D900 but with 3G, i-Mode, egde and abit more, it has 138mb internal memory and it takes MicroSD's Im abit confused about those can anyone tell me if it's a different card to a transflash??? ive a transflash card, but don't wanna go forcing it in till I know whats what

Posted by scottt
microsd's and t-flash's are both the same

Posted by Miss UK
Really? oh good

lol you wouldn't know how to save MP3's as ringtones would yeah scott?

Posted by Miss UK
As you ll know I took back my Samsung Z650i yesterday and got the 007 K800i all I paid was £30 for it im like really confused but happy cos ive saved £90

Posted by jcwhite_uk
I called O2 CPW a couple of weeks ago and was eimmediatly offered a W850i for free on my existing contract after 10 months (£16.99 a month). No haggling or anything.

Posted by Miss UK
Don't normally have them writing to me but I recieved a letter from 02 Online saying the nextime I upgrade im entitled to a Free handset

whats going on here?
btw im keeping it as proof just case it's error

a few days before the 23rd december i rang up 02 and they quoted me £129.99 for the K800i, im totally spooked by this whats going on?

have they finally decided to look after existing customers now aswell as the newer ones??? lmao

Posted by apolloa
£130!!!!!! That's ludicrous, I bet that's on a 12 month contract, switch to an 18 month one and I bet they'll flood you with offers. Threaten to leave and see what retentions give you, they always have access to the best deals I find.

Posted by Miss UK
Neh I don't do 18 months lol too long to go without upgrading
