Hi all I was wondering which SE phone has the most comfortable keypad for SMS I'm kind of an SMS maniac so I was hoping anyone would help...

Hmm used to like the T68i keypad but it kept sqeaking, the T630 and K700 were a good fèel and quickley to use. However if u want a resonable SE the keypad on myphone sèe below is pretty gøod too.

M600...bou with normal keyboard I liked T610

I bought the w810i thinking it might be a good one, but the keys are very small and the placement of the lens with no cover on the back invites sticking your finger in it. Now I am thinking the w710i would be better as it has a very nice keypad and is much easier to hold one handed.

IMHO, K300 has the most comfortable keypad amongst all SE phones, even amongst other brands too.

In my opinion the W800 is the best texting phone ive ever owned. and i do send a lot of text so believe me ive tested it to the max!

the keys are a great size and give a decent feel when texting.

T39m had (still has?) a very nice keypad touch

I think any phone will be fast when u get used to it...
Except a N70

P990i keypad is not bad when it comes to typing, buttons are very strong and sturdy. need to use both hands if you want it to be fast which is not much of an issue.

Yeh my P900 was pretty damm good and texting with.

Those SE phones, which have + and - buttons are very comfortable for sms typing. Though you'll need two hand for typing, it is possible to type text about 4-5 times faster than usual.

They are something like two "shift" buttons on your phone - while holding + button press any digit key, and you'll get the second letter (for example 'b' on key-2), and the third letter with - button.

This way typing 3,6,7 while pressing '-' button, you'll get "for", otherwise you would need to press each key three times.

I've used this on my old T630, and now with K750i

Well the z520 has the best keypad imo.
Its soft and has big nice buttons.

@Kikos-yeah, reminds me of my r320s when it first came out. Once you get used to that system it's amazingly fast. I think the m600 is better than any other SE phone.

Yeah, the Z520 is a good keypad. The W900 has really nice keys as well I might add. But I've heard, that the Z610 has really good keys. Large and well spaced. Never tried it myself though.

The W810 also has + and - buttons but i couldnt get the same result as mentioned. Can anyone with a W810 or K750 confirm this shift button function? What should i do to get this working on my w810?

Im trying it as well, no luck.

@786KBR- It's an old Ericsson method of typing used in t28,r320s and a few other Ericsson phone at the time. That was prior to predictive texting. I don't think the k750 does that, speaking under correction of course.

Posted by Dups!
Apologies. I was checking my k700 now and it does that, so I think the k750 does that as well.

The trick I've explained does not work when T9 is turned on.

My vote goes to the K300i and k750i. The K300i has a really nice soft keypad.

For me the BEST fone for SMS writing will be the PDA ones: P800/P900/P910i and P990. Though I must admit that no one can beat how the Nokia Communicator series (N9210/9210i/9300/9500) when it comes to typing SMS . . .

Posted by rhett121
um... I have a w810i and I've never seen a + or - key on it. To activate the shift key, you press the * key.

M600, of course! This phone wap intended to be used for messaging, e. g. for SMS. Talking about not smartphones, all other phones are approximately the same in typing.

Mighty, my k700 does that too! Even with T9 on - then you can also use them +/- to browse through the alternative words.
Ah, that is why we like SE isn't it. Has this ever been mentioned in a manual or so?

Too bad it doesn't work on the w810. Is it only the w810 which does not have that? Maybe all ther walkman phones?

Going back OT, the k700 has an excellent & fast keypad imo.

i realy mis this function on k800i... and it was more comfortable when the volume keys was on left side of the phone. it was easyer to tipe with both hands.
and the k700 is the best SE for writeing text

I started with a motorola in the late 90's , went to a panasonic, the t68 , then p900 and now k750...

By far k750 feeling is much much higher quality than any other phone. The key pads are excellent designed ! However i think that if you have fat fingers it wouldnt be as comfortable as for other people...

What makes the k700 so excellent for typing?
* shape of the buttons: the rounded shape makes it easy to find the right key and press it on the right place;
* touch of the key: the plastic allows for easy glinding of your thumb, but has sufficient 'resistance' to stop at the right key when you apply some pressure;
* broad keys: you do not have to press the keys exactly in the middle, when pushed at the sides you feel the underlying button going down. That makes the effectively used area much smaller while the keypad does not feel cramped;
* hard click: there is a easily distinguishable click under the buttons while not being uncomfortable, this keypad has the ideal setting of hard/soft, also concerning the sound: the clicking sound is just hard enough to give you feedback;
* reliable: it never fails, no button ever becomes sturdy so you do not waste time to check if the letter has effectively been entered;
* shape of the phone: the k700 must be the best balanced phone to hold in your hand. You can easlily hold it on two fingers so that they keypad is right under your thumb. Also the aluminium back is both pleasant and provides enough grip.
