P990 performance? - Esato archive

I have been pondering whether or not to buy a P990.

I've had a P800, P900 and currently have a P910 (for 2yrs) also a Nokia N80. The Nokia I must say is a very good phone. I appreciate that the N80 has had some duff reviews and a lot of people have posted bad things about it, however I've had no problems with mine (Orange) and like it very much.

As part of my getting used to the phone I installed the 3d Mark benchmarking software and ran the test.

I ran the test on my P910, N70 and N80.

The P910 did not finish the test so I don't have a result.
The n70 scored 1074.
The n80 scored 1786.

As there has been a lot of bad posts regarding the P990 to do with speed I was wondering if P990 owners would run this test. The P990 is not in the list of SE phones, but you can choose other and enter the P990 and proceed to the download screen.

I know that this is not a definitive test of mobile; however it will give an indication of how is stacks up against the competition and an indication of the power of the phone.

i can garuntee the performance of p990i anyday. iv been repeatdly sayin that you shud knw how to use p990i and i can say a p series user can use this phone better than anyone he knows frm where the errors are coming and how and also he knows how to solve them

I know that as a 'P' user I will be able to get around any issues and find my way around the operating system, however how fast that happens depends on the phone.

What I didn't put in my original post was I found the P910 to be slower than the P900 and I'm a little concerned that the P990 will be even slower.

I doesn't matter how good it looks and what functions it offers if it takes a long time to do it I'll just get anoyed with it.

Just run the test on my g/friends k800 and the result is 1928.

Looks like SE have upped the stakes from Nokia!

Every time it gets even better. After a fresh reboot I got 2427.

TEST RESULTS:
2D game :11.7 ffps
3D Game : 16.5 Fps
Fillrate : 8307 KTexels/s
Polygon throughput : 55.7 KTverticels/s
PNG score : 54
IVM score : 1758

And the higher the better regarding the overall score.

The replys to this tread will make my mind up to whether or not I buy a P990.

It will also be interesting to see the results from other phones!!!!

well p990i is fast but not as fast as p910i but its fast its not bad st all. but a bit like i would say 5% slower than p910i

Please be more specific!

The CPU is ~33% faster, hence in calculations, it should be 33% faster.
The UI (=User Interface) might be a bit slower.... but actually I'm not sure in that either, my M600 is pretty fast, I don't think it's slower then the P910.

From the multimedia point of view: P990/M600 is MUCH faster then P910, because it has hardware acceleration for 3d and multimedia.

I think Indian is talking about the speed of the OS, something different for the java speed...regarding java, P990 is MUCH more powerfull than P910, there´s not a single doubt about that

Regarding OS speed, P990 with the latest fw is still slower than P910, there´s alot of optimizing to do

I have a M600 .
On the first run I've got 2332.
Pretty good ,I think,isn't it?
