So whats a good mouthwash??
What do you use?

Posted by brix25
Listerine, thats the only one I use.

Posted by pmerryman
There is only one brand in mouthwash, and thats Listerine. You actually feel like you have used a mouthwash after this.

Yeah I use listerine to, but at the local pharmacy this weekend some French kid was ranting about Oral B mouthwash not available in South Africa, I it good?

listerine burns, i dont really like it but then again i dont use mouthwash offten

Posted by pmerryman
Only the original Listerine burns.

The red oral B

if it burns, it works.

Thing is, they ALL say recomended by dentists.

I think they should get ONE organization (uncorruptable of course) that can decidde what's good and what's not.

I hate the listerine commercial, where it's flowing through the teeth and pushing out dirth, Have you guys SEEN plaque? It's sometimes unremovable with a fingernail!

What about the London brand, Dentyl?? Shake to activate, see the dirt in the sink....

Do any of you use it??

I think it's to a limit true, but something tells me that the results are exaggerated.
Perhaps when the two chemicals mix and find plaque it expands to make it look like you have more than you do

That's disgusting, how do you market it?

Hot salty mouthwash, does the job and is a lot cheaper than Listerine

Yup, PLAIN salt will really do ! Specially if you have lots of blisters in your mouth !

Its blue and purple, then you have to shake to activate it.
Its marketed like he said, "you can see the dirt in the sink!"

Warm salt water, it does the jobn. Besides, have you seen some of the stuff that goes into making mouthwash?

Posted by kk.226
Johnnie Walker Black Label does it for me.... although I always forget to spit it out

Posted by *Jojo*
@kk - Yeah . . . and I'm a BIG fan of McLaren-Mercedes too dude !

Dentyl is good, comes in two flavours and colours and it makes you sick when you seen the gunk, you didn't know was there, in the sink bowl.

Although Smirnoff sounds like a good alternative as long as you don't spit it out

While the claims that mouthwashes kill bacteria are true, it's also true that the bacteria quickly come back--and in greater force than before you used the mouthwash.

But in addition to being ineffective, mouthwash can also be dangerous. Too much mouthwash is irritating to the gums, the palate, the tongue, and the mucous membranes of the mouth. And in a small percentage of people who are susceptible, and particularly if they smoke and drink, heavy use of mouthwash can cause certain types of cancer.

cancer is this true mate? got any evidence (i aint testing you mate, its just my girlfriend uses it alot and if there is a risk i will be happy to put up with smelly breath )

You should make sure that it is alcohol-free (that's the main ingredient which can cause cancer). My dentist told me to avoid mouthwash which contains alcohol, so just to be on the safe side I avoid it.
