i paid £200 delivered because i couldnt be bothered waiting until tuesday for them (you can get pay £190 with free delivery) from ebuyer! one of my best purchases!

Enjoy

Posted by leeboy13
ive always wanted a good set of these but as i have a good hifi seperates setup i havent bothered.... but im fairly tempted if they are as good as you say mate....

hmmmmmm, good find!

Posted by lamont
they seriously are mate! it took me a good few days to make my mind up because of the price and im glad i bought them!!

Posted by pmerryman
I take it you use your Pc as your main way of listening to music then? They do look awesome. I got a set of 5:1 speakers with my pc (mesh), but I dont use them to their full potential. I would be quite happy with just 2 speakers to be honest.

Posted by axxxr
Lamont thats a very nice set and very powerful,I like them but me being addicted to Sony i have don't seem to able to be brave enough to buy any other brand, the only problem is Sony does'nt have much variety in such things,,I really like these Sony SRS-DZ10 speakers but again the output is a bit low...so im confused?

Posted by lamont
i only really listen to music on my PC, these are powerful to say the least mate! there the most powerful in the price range and even in much higher price ranges! they truely rock the house hehe,

EDIT: just played call of duty 2 with them, another great experience!

theyve just started rattling a pipe, which is really annying. makes a high pitched vibrating noise everytime it pumps some base. dunno what to do really as it sounds really poor with the vibration but is in the only place which will reach the needed things e.g plug sockets and computer any suggestions?

Posted by leeboy13
buy an extention and move them - you payed enough money for them matey, why sacrifice the quality now

Posted by lamont
i need a long cord that runs from the computer to the make speakers source, it has 3 lines on each end, what are they called? one is orange, 1 black and 1 green. thanks

Posted by leeboy13
if you mean the one from your speakers, according to logitecs website its called a ' 6-channel direct cable '

personally mate, id take the cable to teh nearest maplin (or soemthing simular) and say i want one of these - longer.....

Job done

Posted by lamont
lol ye! cheers

Posted by lamont

has anybody got one of these? maybe a 10m one? or knows where i can get one? thanks

Posted by fatreg
why the hell do you need 3??

Stereo only runs on two or digital if allowed.....

if you can i'd go digital... get a fooking long co-ax cable and your away.

fatreg

Posted by leeboy13
fatreg, i know what your saying but im fairly sure because these are computer speakers they run off a dif kind of cable. I dont think they have the option... do they lamont? If they do then id definately do it mate, the quality will be even better

But if not, i will do some looking for you on a bigger cable like the one you pictured

Posted by fatreg
i used to run digital from my audigy platinum sound card to my sony CMT C5 hifi and the sound was well made the hairs on my necxk stand on end....

digital is the way forward.

can anyone answer why there are 3 leads? i dont get it.. one is for left, one is for right and the 3rd???

fatreg

Posted by leeboy13
its a 5.1 setup mate, theres more than 2 speakers

but it would be better if a digital option was avalible via a coxial cable or optical

PAH,

you get good music from stereo sources.. no need for 5.1 unless you watching films,

i like my music pure, id get everything on vinyl if i could!

fatreg

Posted by leeboy13
almost certain this is the one you want... anyone second me on that?

*sorry - lol wrong one*

Happy days if it is the right one

*fatreg, you are right, yeh. but these would also make excellent gaming speakers, soume games would be amzing on this setup

Posted by leeboy13
damn it, thats totally the wrong cable - my bad..... dont buy it

Posted by lamont
na that isnt what i want mate, thats 1 3.5mm jack to 2 RCA, i need 3 x3.5mm jacks to 3 x 3.5 mm jacks. thanks for the help tho. there is coax in the back of the logitech control thing but where do they go into the back of the sound card? i have got a 5.1 card, looks like this:

Posted by leeboy13
correct me if im wrong (im making assuptions here)... i assume the cable you showed goes to the back of th lil controller thingy?!?! if so then you have 5 wires coming out of the controller to each speaker - correct? if so, why cant you simply buy longer speaker cable mate? with thsi you could also buy better quality speaker cable as most manufacturers bundle absolute crap with their systems......

This is again assuming you dont mind having the contrller close to your pc

Any help?

Posted by lamont
na its not like that. the speaker wires go to the sub and the wires are long enough. then a power goes from the controller to the sub( not very long and connected to the controller so cant be made bigger) and then there is the wired i showed going from the controller to the PC, therefore the only thing that can be extended is the green, orange and black wires. there is also a power cable from the sub 2 a plug but theres no problem with that. sorry if iv explained that badly hope you understand.

PERSONALLY MATE ID BUY YOURSELF A

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Creativ[....]eNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

This will allow you to link your stuff up better mate if your speakers does have a digital input then this would do you proud...... These are old things mate but tbh they are well better than using any rear connection

Posted by leeboy13
also they offer you with the option of linking your pc up to many other things

check tho that you can link your speakers up via a digital (optical or co-axial) cable before buying

Posted by lamont
ye my speakers have a coax port at the back and an optical! can i not link via optical or coax with my current sound card? thanks for the help! thanks

Posted by leeboy13
i have a audigy 2 card and mine has a optical out on teh back.... but if yours is the one pictured you ahvent got and optical or co-axial point at the back

But with that bay (that goes in teh front of your pc) you will have

The bay links to your existing card by a ribbon cable which is also included in the auction.... i'm actually really tempted to get myself one of those babies, especially as they are so cheap - back in teh cay that bay and soundcard would of set you back a cool £175........

Short to that mate, id take the cable into say... 'maplins' and show them and say i want a 5 or 10 metre one that way they will say to you either: 'yes sir, right this way'... or 'impossible matey - they dont make them'.....

Personally - i'd buy that bay off ebay mate.... solve yourself a lot of problems and mak the connection stronger (better music quality i reckon)

Posted by lamont
i havent got anywhere to put that in my case either, iv got a crap tiny case which cannot be personalised at the front unfortunaetly. can you buy a stand alone coaxial port? thanks

Posted by leeboy13
shite.... ok... well i would personally buy a better soundcard, one with the output on the back...... or go to a shop lol sorry man but ive tried real hard to find that cable and ive come up with nothing atall

you could possible think about cuting teh cables and extending them but i would recomend it mate... dont wanna brerak those nice speakers now do you

I dont know if that possible to get one of those co-axial ports mate... anyone else know?

Posted by lamont
cheers mate your help been much appreciated! think ill go for a new sound card, any good ones come to head? dont wanna spend much at all really. thanks again leeboy!!

Posted by leeboy13
mate i just found this on the manufacturers website: '**Requires Xbox® Advanced AV Pack or Xbox® High Definition AV Pack, sold separately, or PC sound cards (requires optical cable, sold separately) '

You can also get external sound cards off ebay for around £20 - £30 which may work... depending on them having a optical/co-axial output.....

If only we could find that damn cable in 5 or 10 metres... this would be soooo much easier

Posted by lamont
ye i wonder why no1 seems to sell them thanks again for the help. the rattling seems to have died down abit now but im sure it will be back in the near future, it still needs moving! il have another look for myself hehe. cheers leeboy

Posted by leeboy13
Can anyone advise please.... me and Lamont have found this cable:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/3-5mm-M[....]goryZ31492QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

basically i take it as he will need 3 of these am i right? i know its a surround sound setup so im a lil puzzled as to why there are three cables too, also they are all 3.5mm connections..... am i right in assuming these cables will do the trick?

Any help would be grand!
Lee

Posted by solidsingh
each cable has a left and right thats y there are 3 of them, 2 of them are for four of the speakers and one is for the sub and the centre speaker i believe

Posted by lamont
should they work then mate, using 3 seperate 3.5mm jacks instead of the 1 iv got where they are colour coded and stuck together like shown in my previous pic. thanks mate

Posted by leeboy13
@Lamont, welsh tom maentioned to me last night that you may in deed need a male to female connector - i am not sure of this so again, i'd say its best to go to a maplins store with teh cable and ask them... you dont have to buy it off them (although their prices are usually good).....

The one in that ebay auction is a male to male connector... Does anyone know for sure which he needs?

Dear Mr. Walbyoff,

Thank you for contacting Logitech's Electronic Technical Support.

I understand that you would like to get longer cable wires for the Z-5500 speaker.

I would like to inform you that Logitech does not provide any extension cables for any of the device. However, I would like to inform you that since Logitech speakers use a standard speaker setup, you can purchase a standard extension cables from your local electronics store. However, extension cables and adapters can vary in quality and length, which may affect how the speakers will sound. If you experience poor sound quality, try removing any extension cables and adaptors. If the sound improves, you many need to try a different cable or adapter, or use the speakers without them.

Should you have any other issues, please get back to me.

If you have any additional questions regarding your product, please feel free to visit our website at http://www.logitech.com
