Hi!

As topic; as obsessive-compulsive as I fu**ing am, I always reset the counter after every 'set' of pictures (a day most of the times; also the most bothering one...), so each set will start at 1 again...

How often do you do it? And most importantly; could you psichologically help me by giving an advice of proper justification as not to do it so often?

Thanks in advance.

why do u reset the pic counter? just out of curiosity...

Never reset them. I use Nikon View to transfer the images onto my computer and in it I rename them with the subject matter I shot. Sometimes I just name them with the month and year they were shot. I see no point to reseting the counter itself though.

@DAN, it is very bad for your phone to reset this all the time. think of all the joystick clicks!! theres a few that you dont have to use every day that u use! and every time you do that, it makes the picture quality go down on your phone, so the pictures arnt as clear. It makes ur battery life very very poor also!! and it is known for making the backlight go out too, and even makes your volume buttons stop working. yea, all from reseting the pic counter too much!!

okay... so i lied about all that hahaha. just trying to convince u its not important hahaha

and before peopel reply and say "hey @ECS, thats not true!!" I know its not, i was being funny.

Hey @ECS, that's not true! Haha... Ok, so I was being funny too. Yeah, but the part about that few additional clicks on his joystick is true to a certain extent though.

I reset mine very rarely - once I had reset the counter to DSC0000 after around DSC022XX, and now again I have reaches DSC0341X and haven't reset it yet.

Wonder whether it'll get automatically resetted after DSC99999 or will it get renamed as ~~~00001, where ~~~ will be something other than DSC ?

how I can see picture counter on k600?? or on k750??

you can't see see the counter except to take a pic and see the number assigned to it.

to reset the counter go to camera, then settings, then reset file no.

for synchronising purposes, when does the phone change the name of the map containing all the photos on de memorystick??

and 'DSC' stands for DIGITAL SONY CAMERA, as all sony's name their pictures like that...

Actually DSC stands for Digital Still Camera and many if not most new cameras use it as their designator (my Nikon D70 sure does)

I only did it once and it was just to make sure that the phone could actually do it. another thing @ECS that one was good, I actually laughed

i did it once, when i flashed my phone!

my counter is 2908

I did it once to check how it works.

I think its best not to reset it at all. Resetting gives an unnecessary burden to manage photos in a pc by not having unique file names. It's better to rename them, whenever you need to give a meaningful filename. Preferably in your PC using your favourite pictire management software. (I use ACDSee)

DSC stands for Digital Still Camera. So the prefix 'DSC' wont change after you reaching the 9999th (or something). Instead I think it will automatically be reset to DSC0001 (or DSC0000).

However it is interesting to think what will happen if all file names of the photos (DSC0000 to DSC9999) are still present in the memory card? Will the phone display an error message such as: "Internal error. File name already exists."?
