Looking for good headphones

I'm now onto my 3rd set of Apple headphones, so i'm not going to buy another set anyway. The sound quality is okay, but the build quality is shocking. Can anyone recommend a decent quality, well built set of in-ear or ear-bud headphones?

At the moment i'm looking at the Sony Fontopia headphones which certainly look decent, anyone got any feedback they can give on these?

Lol i was going to recommend them, and then I saw that's what you looking for.

GET THEM... I was looking to spend £100 on a pair of earphones, and everyone recommended those even though they like £30.

Sound quality is great, and has MASSES of bass!

I have the exact ones in white, they're great, best earphones i've ever had!

Yeah, they certainly look the part form the reviews i've been reading. I'm definately going to check them out. I dont want to spend more than £30 so they really do look ideal. I've read a couple of reviews talking about the build quality, have you had any trouble?

Tbh mate it depends on how well you'd treat them, I treat most my stuff carefully, so they we're perfect. However recently i didn't take care of em, the wire got caught when i zipped up my top, and the wire split... but wierdly sealed up again.

And i left them in my car for a bit, and now the left earphone doesn't work.

So aslong as you take care of them, you'll be fine... i just neglected them abit ... but then i guess that goes for anything nowadays.

But the build is good, they feel strong, and are pretty water resistant, i mean i use my ipod ones in the rain and they go distorted... when i used these, rain had no affect.

You won't be disappointed mate.

I'm buying another pair 100%... took me a while to find a white pair to match my ipod, now im gona get a black nano/U2 colour, so i'll buy the standard black ones.

Ok cool, thanks for the tips mate. I think i'm going to get a set. I know what you mean about the Apple ones, my right headphone has distorted in all 3 sets i've had, i reckon its due to the rain too.

Yeah the problem SORT OF sorts itself out once they dry out... but then they can't handle anytracks with bass anyways so they pretty useless.

Check out www.ipodlounge.com

That's where i go for ipod stuffs

Thanks for the link. The trouble is, the Apple ones are very cool looking, i really like the look of them. But, they just aren't up tyo the job!

I've read a few reviews on these Sony ones, and quite a few people mention the coating fraying, or stripping, from the wire. Is it that bad?

I have had mine now for over 8 months and I can highly recommend these earphones. No fraying or anything with mine, and I think you will be impressed.

if you want a decent set of headphones that dont cost the earth have a look at the sennheiser mx500. they come in black or white and will blow anything around that price away. they are about £30 in the uk but if you shop around ive seen them on offer for £20
dont get the sony mdrex71 as they are crap , they dont track the sound well and the bass is very laggy on them.
if it has to be sony check out the mdred21lp these are better then the ex71 and cost £10 less

Gotta say the Sony's are the biz. I put my gf's ipod phones in my ears for the first time after only using the Sony's for a few months and after 10 mins or so they hurt my ears. The Sony's are super comfy adn have great sound. Go get em!!!

So I was nuts when I paid over £500 pounds for mine (But they my babies and I love them)..., but yeah the best in-ear headphones for around about 45-55£ would be the Shure E2C they are really amazing..I have used the E5C and they cost more but sound shit.

The sony fontopia's have lost there quality over the years to be honest and they seal is not been that good as they seem to have made the largest plug possibly 10% smaller than what it used to be..now thats not good when you need a tight seal so..I would think twice about the fontopia especially if you have a large ear canal.

And if you feeling rich or win the lottery try the STAX OMEGA II..they will blow your mind away and also your hearing...

Thanks for all the advice guys, i'm going to check out all the options suggested before i blow my hard-earned.

I'm with him - Senns are great. The MX series is cheap and some of the best buds I've heard. Currently using the MX450 (same as MX550 without the inline volume controller). Trounces the Ex71s by fidelity and price!

Etymotic ER-6 in-earphones are fantastic, they have superb build quality, and perfect sound reproduction, they come in white/black. They're great, as they isolate sound from outside sources, and others can't hear what you're listening to. The only warning I'd give is that they're a bit pricey, and if you like your bass, then don't buy them, they have a very flat equalizer, so you won't get face-melting bass.

the ones you are looking at on amazon are f**king brilliant, I got a pair myself, and my girlfrined has now got them, the good thing is if you do sport they stay in your ears, and they also have great sound quality, much better then the normal apple ones etc. BUY THEM

Seconded!

I also have a pair and they are great. Cant fault them honestly. Just be careful not to lose the 'buds'.
