k850i bad camera quality |

Hi. I have just bought a used SE k850i and are very disappointed! I had a k750i before and were expecting a much better camera. The photos taken with the k850i are just grainy, grey and blurry! And I know how to fix settings and so on, and I have the latest firmware installed and everything. This is a photo i took today.
And here is a photo I took with my K750..
Do you know why the camera on the K850i sucks?

The first picture looks like there is some fog on the glass or something.The second picture looks alright although there is a lot of noise in the sky. I don't know to be honest, my camera works okay, you could maybe try a moded camera driver many available.

Every cam needs to get used to. Take a few pics of the same object with different settings.

apparently you can get very good cam drivers for this phone with Shutters of up to 4 seconds

@adsada Yes, the k750i had a lot more noise on the higher parts of the photos. And on the first photo there is not much detail. You can't really see it unless you see the full resolution. Okey, I will try a different camera driver! Thanks for the tip!
@hihihans As I said, I know how to use the camera settings and all that stuff. I'm not a beginner with these things. I have already tried all possible settings, and the photo is coming out in bad quality all the time.
@mriley What do you mean "with Shutters of up to 4 seconds"? |

i meant shutter speeds
, it looks like there was steam/condensation on the K850i lense and maybe it was because you were going from warm to cold and the lense got steamy

Sonyericcson staked very much on the first edition of k750 (both money and quality-controlls). they wanted to be the first phone-company with a good camera-phone......and so they did.
the camera (on k750) is "not" mass-produced (as many other cam-modules are)....ive got this fact from a SE employed several years ago (2005 something) when i bought my first K750 .
the good thing with K850 camera is its really fast.........(K750 camera is way slower).
K850 original firmware______________what can i say...great stuff

@plankgatan You do agree that something must be damaged/wrong with my camera, right? Look at the difference! And another problem I have, is under "poor" light conditions (poor: I'm standing in my living room with 3 large windows with all the daylight shining through) the camera is REALLY slow before I take the photo. When I'm aiming so to speak. Please.. someone tell me what the problem is! This is killing me |

you right.............K850 sensor & optic does NOT works good during lowlight.........you need some heavily modded driver to get decent lowlight shoots with K850.
edit.....maybe you have dust or dirt under your lens-protection-glass ?????

@mriley
What?! 4 sec shutter speed??
I have tried almost all available modded camdrive for my K850i, but none has 4 sec shutter speed. The maximum shutter speed obtained by any modder is 2 sec.
@plank
Very nice still pics. Actually i have seen these pics of yours before. I like them. I remember the girl in the pic is in relation to you.
@seperson
May be there is some fault with your K850i. As it is a used one, may be the original owner has selled it for this reason. Otherwise K850i performs very good. Remember it has one of the strongest flash of other se phones.
I love taking pics with it.

Yep, that's what i think, the designers of the K850i decided to put the camera lens below the glass camera cover and i think there is some condensation caused behind this cover between the lens and cover which causes the fog, mist. Try taking pictures indoor and in daylight .
@ceaser
yeah the K850i can reach 4 seconds ill try looking for the camdriver if u want

@ceaser2008 Yeah, well. I have already figured out that it's something wrong I am just looking for possible solutions.
@mriley I have tried taking photos indoor, and they are even worse... And by the way, the photo taken with the k850i (the first one) is taken in daylight.

hmmm....maybe try doing a Master Reset, it's really easy to do, and could improve it, go to Settings >General>Master Reset>Reset All
MAKE SURE you back up all your data everything will be deleted. You should find that it's faster. Also check the sensor (the black circle to the left of the LED light and below the Xenon flash) with a light, and give it a good clean with a toothpick, there most likely will be some dirt in there.
