K790a and "No Netw Coverage" |

Hey guys --
I recently bought an unlocked K790a from ebay and received it last Tuesday. Since then, I have been using the phone flawlessly, from making calls, sending picture messages, ..the whole works.
Then last night, I was sent a series of 7 test messages early in the morning. Immediately after the last one sent, I noticed all the signal bars dashed out and I received a "No Netw Coverage" status where AT&T normally resides.
Since then, I have not been able to get my phone to pick up a signal again. The No Netw Coverage status will not go away. The only thing that comes to mind is my battery was extremely low when I sent the messages but that shouldn't have anything to do with the network signal I receive.
I've tried restarting the phone, taking out the sim card and battery, manually searching for another mobile network ... without any success. The sim card is properly working b/c I put it in an old nokia piece of junk and had full signal.
This is really disappointing. I love this k790a and I don't know how to resolve the issue. Any advice?? Thanks in advance |

could the previous owner of the phone have reported it as lost/stolen (possibly as an insurance scam?) therefore blocking the phone? This could be why it was working then suddenly stopped.
Also, try updating the firmware via the Sony Ericsson Update Service, this could fix the problem if it's firmware related.

Did you try putting a other sim card in your SE phone?

It is a possibility the previous owner did this but I would certainly hope people don't stoop to this level.
I've tried a software update via the SE update service, but I currently have the most recent software available for the phone.
So dissappointed. Any others with advice would be greatly appreciated. |

The SIM could went bad. Also the stolen phone is a possibility. Charge the phone over nite. Then remove the batterie in the morning. Wait 1min. put it in and reboot. Go into settings then do a master reset. IF that does not help try Settings/connectivity - mobile networks - new search. If that all does not help try new SIM and repeat if that still does not help the stolen phone is a high possibility. If you have the opportunity bring it into a service shop and have it checked. Good luck.
