Sony Ericsson S700
9 March 2004 More information about the Sony Ericsson S700
Sony Ericsson today unveiled the S700. It is the first GSM mobile phone from Sony Ericsson with a "swivel" form factor. The shape is adopted from the NTT DoCoMo model S0505iS for the Japanese marked. Nothing wrong with that, it just confirms that Sony Ericsson adopts popular features from the more advanced Japanese models. The S700 model is equipped with a 1.3 megapixel (1280x960) camera, and is today the highest resolution found in phone models for the European market. A 8x digital zoom is probably added for marketing purposes, as most of us don't have any use for digital zoom. You better wait for optical zoom. Both Sony Ericsson's mother companies (Ericsson and Sony) have expertise in various fields. Ericsson is huge in the telecom industry, and Sony is a leader in consumer electronics. The S700 camera is a result of cooperation with Sony Corporation's camera experts. The camera is activated when you open the camera lens shutter and the display acts as a view-finder. Furthermore, the S700 has a flash, a feature missed in previous models. The question is: Are Sony digital cameras the best you can get? And when will the other mobile phone manufactures start co-operating with Nikon, Canon, Olympus to provide even better cameras? If more memory is needed, you can add a Sony MemoryStick Duo expansion card which is the same extra storage type used in P800 and P900. Mophun game engine know from T310, T610, T300 etc. is exchanged with the Mascot Capsule 3D gaming engine from Hi Corp. Sony Ericsson S700 features:
