Sony Ericsson now number 3 in handsets
18 January 2007 by axxxr Sony Ericsson chief executive Myles Flint said the company is now the number 3 handset maker in terms of sales value, having overtaken Samsung in the fourth quarter.
The comments were made on a telephone conference in connection with the fourth-quarter results. Flint said he said he sees the global handset market at 1.1 bln units in 2007. He said there is no significant inventory build up of Sony Ericsson handsets in the sales channels, adding, 'We are not struggling to find new sources of innovation and propositions to bring to the consumer.' Flint said the company made 'significant' progress in North America during the year, and said it remains a key market. source:hemscott Comments On 23 Jan 04:42 jeanpierre wrote sony ericsson T290 On 23 Jan 03:58 vader wrote SEs rise no doubt due to its well thought out pipeline of phones. Though I have not had major issues with my 2 UIQ3 phones (M600 and P990i - these had less hang times than my wife's N73), I would like to see them improve on this and make it more stable. But nonetheless, the other products are leading phones in their respective classes and considered either quality rich and/or best in class. SE is now at the right point of evolution they have judged the market right and are providing solutions which are both feature rich as well as cost effective,Where as other manufacturers are relying more on hype and advertisements and churning out feature crippled handsets in the market. Only thing that SE has to take care is to improve the Quality (Plastics Fit and Finish) and avoid software problems and I feel they will be no1.
