Sony Ericsson's recent patent shows the blueprints for what looks like a PSP phone or certainly an advanced Gaming Phone.

And who’s better positioned to create a perfect mobile gaming platform then Sony? It already has one the Sony PSP and of course it also makes the best mobile phones in the world via joint venture with Ericsson.Their recent patent filing shows how Sony Ericsson will go about integrating these two gadgets.

The beauty of it all is that Sony will not have to worry about the games for the PSP phone. Just make it compatible with the standard PSP games and Nokia will have a really tough time catching up with it’s next gen N-Gage platform. Patent Page source:unwiredview

where the hell is the keypad? Since its only a case study, don't ever use it again! It really sucks!

Maybe the best option for Sony is to make the PSP have phone capabilities not the other way around...

samsung have the same swivel screen on one of their phones
so really, it is not a unique design is it

They should make it like the n91,where the bottom part slides down to reveal the keypad.

think about it ... if thier is a touchscreen and wifi in this phone then,
the hackers can emulate DS games by Synchronizing with the psp!

It's such an idea, isn't it?

i think thats a great idea and all those who's talking sh*t about this design just put in mind that thats just a basic idea. just a raw sketch giving you the simplest idea about how it will be. the final product can be more slim in size.

In this draw you have the 1st mode is the regular phone, on the secontd you have the media player and in the last one if you use the phone (sorry PSP) in the horizontal mode you have all the controls needed for the console. the swivel is really only so you get the function on the phone you want in faster way, like the SE K750 that you slide the lens cover and activate the camera without unlock the phone.

awesome, I just like that

fact is guys, the psp phone will always have perculiar large dimensions if they are going to make it compatible with the psp platform games.i mean those discs are big.

"Files a patent" does NOT MEAN OFFICIAL. Geez, you'd think that 5 million Apple patents posted on Engadget would clue people into this.
On 2 Jun 13:15 Bash2cool wrote
How much will it cost?

looks like one of the models I drawed in the rumors section. There's a thread called What you want: USB, 3x optical zoom and more ... lol, check them out :D

Hey guys, this is a patent and not the final design, this is for you guys to get the 1st idea, i can bet that will be a touch screen, a thinner phone and with a handy design so you can play without you getting tired. and a phone that you can handle also in comfort. SonyEricsson never "sleeps" on design

The reason I think the speaker is hidden behind the display (there may be one at the back as well) is to provide better sound while playing videos...

Its just a case study you num nuts...of course it has to go through a lot of testing, analysis, market study, practicality, ergonomics and prototypes..First of all we are still debating whether the release of this phone (if at all it got released) will directly affect the sales of the PSP.
On 1 Jun 17:43 holland wrote
rubbish design; why would anyone hide it's speaker?
pretty shure it would reduce the sound.
the swirl-design might be nice... however i don't know when en to who it could be usefull... better stick with the candybar
if it comes out at current state... it's going to be a huge disaster
