New UK Service Matches People Via Mobile Phone

6 August 2006 by axxxr
YourMyCrush.com gives UK mobile users a way to see if the person that they have a crush on also fancies them in return anonymously using their phone.

David Geere is a Sussex based internet entrepreneur who has just released a new mobile service. Having already had success with the anonymous text message service TextAnonymous.com, the new site called YourMyCrush.com takes things one step forward by allowing people to find out if the person that they admire feels the same way about them through an anonymous means.

Many people have a crush on someone else but are too afraid to go ahead and tell them just how they feel. YourMyCrush.com aims to help alleviate that issue by giving potential lovers a way of finding out if their feelings are returned. If they are not then the person who they have a crush on need never know, thus saving any embarrassment.

The way in which it works is fantastically simple. A user who has a crush on someone will come to the site and fill in the details of their ‘crush’ including their mobile number. The ‘crush’ will get a text message letting them know that someone fancies them, directing them to the YourMyCrush.com website in the process. The ‘crush’ goes to the site and enters the details of the person that they hope it is, once again this includes a mobile number. The system then checks the details against all the original crushes already sent from the site, if there is a match it lets both people know and helps suggest ways in which to start their new relationship.

If YourMyCrush.com does not detect a match then it will send on the new crush to the new person, at this point the cycle continues once again.

Although the service is reasonably new, it has taken off very well. In the few hours after launch back in July, several thousand visitors made their way to the site to try and find out if their romantic interest returns their feelings.

YourMyCrush.com plans to open a “success stories" area where people who were matched can talk about the site and how it helped them. In return YourMyCrush.com will give out prizes and gifts for the best matches each month.

In addition to the basic service YourMyCrush.com will soon be expanding to include an online store, dating tips, an advice forum and other customisable areas for users to make use of with their mobile phones. The service is presently limited to UK mobile phone networks but will shortly be providing access to other countries in Europe and the rest of the world.

Overall, this is a simple idea, executed cleanly, providing a very helpful and (so far) very successful new mobile match making system. The key demographic is young teens and the “school youth" area, however the site has seen a number of ‘older’ people use the system successfully too. At the end of the day you are only as old as you feel. www.yourmycrush.com

Actually we don't get a copy of the mobile numbers... so no, no selling of them. The cost will be coming down once there is enough usage on the service to allow it.... it's a catch 22 with costings and providing the service.

Yes the service is already done with emails but this looks to take it to the mobile market. Additionall it is looking to set up a community around the system rather than just being a tool. The forums on YourMyCrush are already busy with interesting dicussions.

In future, perhaps you should contact companies and do some investigation before you make comments about what (if anything) they are going to do with the data that may or may not be collected. If there was a refusal to answer the question then fire assumptions (much like google services) but try to stay clear or making things up / assuming things.

Cheers all :)

Its just a way to gain loads of mobile numbers and then they will be sold on.

And you will get crap text's for the rest of your life.

(this service is already done with Emails)

shit, i was ACTUALLY thinking about using this service, sad it may be...it may have got me somewhere - but £1 per txt sent to their number?!?!? wtf is the guy on?!? - will work for some people, but its a bit steep for the teenager who reads!
