Free SMS/MMS software for your phone

15 October 2006 by axxxr
Reporo is a free piece of software for your mobile which let's you send Texts and Picture Messages and use Instant Messenger over the mobile internet.

Reporo works by connecting you to the internet from your mobile phone. Your network will charge you for this however these charges are much lower than standard SMS charges - usually a fraction of a penny or cent. And as more and more of you get "all-you-can-eat" or "flat-rate" or "data bundles" the costs of using Reporo become zero.

Based on typical Pay As You Go/Pre-paid rates on Vodafone in the UK the costs are:

  1. 100 texts for $2/0.75€/£1 - that's a tiny 1p or 2c per text
  2. 1 whole instant messenger conversation on Reporo for the same cost of what your network will charge you for a single text message

Compare this to a typical cost of 12p or 20c for a standard text.A heavy texter (over 10 texts a day) should save over $800 per year!

when you look at international texts or chatting with your friends abroad the costs of sending a message from Reporo stay pretty much the same whereas your network will often charge you 3 or 4 times the standard domestic charges. And remember international texts are not normally included in text bundles either in contract/post-paid or Pay As You Go/Pre-paid deals. www.reporo.com

Great Software only downside is a lot of the chat text is in Russian!
Good news is that appears to be non data hungry - no noticible impact on my data useage.

It is free and works, but you can only send messages to friends who are registered! On my P910, the font is microscopic and there does not appear to be an option to make it larger! Bummer!
