15 June 2006 by
BenQ-Siemens M81 is a robust mobile phone targeted at "action lovers with a sporty, trend-oriented lifestyle"

The scratch resistant TFT color display (262.144 colors, 132x176 pixels) allows you to read the display even in bright sunlight. The 1.3 megapixel camera with video function offers multimedia entertainment and lets you preserve memorable moments with your friends. Whether indoors or outdoors, high-quality pictures are yours with the integrated LED flashlight. Furthermore, the M81 lets you create video ringtones effortlessly, and data can be downloaded thanks to EDGE (depending on operator) in next to no time.

BenQ-Siemens M81Streetball, rollerblading or snowboarding – music will keep you going. The M81 features an integrated music player and a stereo-headset (included in delivery) that allow you to take your favorite music with you wherever you go; exchangeable Micro-SD cards offer further variety for many hours of listening pleasure. The pre-installed offboard navigation "activepilot" by Jentro helps you find your way; together with a GPS receiver (not included in delivery), the M81 becomes a fully-featured navigation system. A weather forecast client keeps you posted on weather conditions (both services subject to fees). Furthermore, an integrated flashlight doubling as a torch lights you the way at night.

Furthermore, the M81 keeps you entertained with exciting games like "Streetball" and "Stack Attack Advanced". An integrated organizer which can be synchronized with your computer helps you keep track of daily tasks and appointments. For added mobile convenience, the Headset Bluetooth Stereo (available as an original accessory) lets you direct all music functions via remote control. The headset for example stops your music if a call comes in so you never miss one. Furthermore, the BenQ-Siemens M81 supports a wide range of Bluetooth car kits which are available as original accessories. The versatile Car Kit Bluetooth Easy HKW-100 can be conveniently plugged into the cigarette lighter and guarantees excellent audio quality with its external microphone.

Boring - but "sporty" - looking phone; a step backwards for Siemens definitely. But then even new Nokia designs are lacking imagination. Still, I like the proper file system Siemens phones have. And what's a "latest feature" anyway? A phone that gives you a handjob?

Well its about time that Vertu had some competition.

This phone competes with that and the 8800 nokia because its scratch resistant.

A phone for the average man, not educated on the latest features or advancements in mobile technology.

Its an old phone before its time, and will probably be pretty boring to use like any Siemens phone. I wouldnt have wasted the time posting it in the Esato news.. :)
