Sony Ericsson announces the G705 slider model

Sony Ericsson today announced the G705 slider phone model for the America market. G705u, a special version of the G705 was also announced. G705u is the first UMA enabled phone from Sony Ericsson making it possible to roam between mobile- and LAN networks.

The Sony Ericsson G705 and G705u have most features in common exept that the G705u is UMA enabled. UMA enables users to seamlessly roam between the mobile network and local area networks thanks to GSM/Wi-Fi™ dual capabilities. UMA functionality is depending on operator implementation. Both G705 and G705u has built in aGPS and Google Maps pluss Wayfinder navigation.

This elegant slider phone, complete with large 2.4” screen, allows users to surf the internet at high speed with turbo 3G and its full HTML browser – just use the shortcut key and you're straight through to Google™ search from the idle screen. Page a bit too small? Use the illuminated zoom web shortcut key or just tilt the phone and it automatically switches to landscape view.

In addition, Sony Ericsson is pleased to today announce a partnership with Google™ meaning that YouTube™ will be integrated into selected upcoming models from Sony Ericsson. This capability will allow users to instantly download and upload video directly from their phone to YouTube™. The G705 will be YouTube™ compatible and further models will be announced at a later stage.

The G705 will also be available in a version for American markets supporting networks GSM/GPRS/EDGE 850/900/1800/1900 and UMTS/HSUPA 850/1900/2100. G705 for American markets will be available early Q1 2009.

If it had autofocus i'd prefer it to the c702, but it seems that only cyber-shot will have this privilege (at least it has the light...) so i'll go cyber-shot.....

Please, Sony Ericsson, fix this damn keyboard! No Power Typer can use something as smooth as these sliders' keyboards. I can't feel where one key ends and other begins. The k850i keys are the way to go. A slider with those keys would be perfect.

:S f**cking SE, it dont has autofocus, and the screen is of 262.000, not like nokia with 16.700.000 lcds
