First to Offer 8-Gigabyte Memory Stick Micro (M2) Cards For Mobile Phones31 August 2007 by Olav Hellesø-Knutsen
SanDisk Corporation today announced that it is shipping 8-gigabyte (GB) Memory Stick Micro™ (M2) flash memory cards to phone manufacturers and mobile network operators (MNOs) for testing and evaluation purposes. Primarily used in Sony Ericsson mobile phones, the 8GB SanDisk M2 cards are ideal for the growing number of consumers who make their mobile phone—with its built-in music player, digital camera and video player/recorder—the centerpiece of their digital lifestyle. By contrast, Sony announced their largest M2 capacity card in July this year. The size is 2GB and should be available from September. Sony plans to launch a 4GB version later this autumn.

"With the addition of an 8GB SanDisk M2 card, consumers will instantly have the same amount of storage as the largest capacity iPhone," said Jeff Kost, senior vice president and general manager of the Mobile Consumer Solutions division at SanDisk. "Furthermore, removable cards make it easy to share content you create with friends, ‘sideload’ content and files from a computer and have virtually unlimited storage by simply purchasing more cards. SanDisk is enabling people to get more out of their phones than ever before."

Right nightblade. w910 would be the real winner now imho. I wish SE would introduce a model with the 3.5 jack. nokia has too many now. n81, n91, n95, the new express music. too bad SE.

hahaha, got that right. but it also makes the k850, provided it is supports the new disk, a little bit sweeter now. 5mp cybershot phone with 8gb storage. suweeet!!!

How come??Both have Walkman version 3...with this card,both will have 8gb memory.
Only difference are camera and uiq3.1(these r user preferences...i prefer a non smartphone till they sort out their UIQ bugs)

erm.. what?.. UIQ bugs?... the only problems with UIQ3 were that it's memory intensive and the P990's RAM wasn't enough to cope. the P1i and W960 with have 128mb (upgrade from 20mb to 80mb after booting) which is more than enough :)

well at least you can upgrade the storage of the k850 to match what the w960 has. Can you upgrade the camera of the w960 to match what the k850 has? wink wink

no, they cant... but anyone whose that interest in photography and needs that kind of storage isn't going to buy a W960 anyways :)
the 3MP cam on the W960 (and P1i) will be similar to the K800/810 so it's not that much of a compromise.
the reality is that the perfect phone doesnt exist, so we have to shop for the clostest thing. i like touchscreen smartphones so i would compromise a lower res cam for UIQ3 and touch screen. also, the fact that it's a music phone makes it all the better.

ehh.... if i not mistake, for now there still arent any phone that support 8GB memory upgrade. so ....... i think W960 still impressive for me

like all memory, it'll be expensive at first untill it becomes mainstream. i'd imagine it's be around AU$.150-200 (€75-100 or £50-70). give it anothe 6 months and these will be much much cheaper.
