Nokia announces two new phone models. Nokia 7500 and Nokia 7900

7 August 2007 by Olav Hellesų-Knutsen

The two new models are part of the new series called Nokia Prism collection.

Nokia today unveiled the Prism collection, its latest range of mobile phones aimed at style-conscious consumers. The Prism collection consists of the Nokia 7900 Prism and the Nokia 7500 Prism, handsets which combine individual style and state-of-the-art technology. The two mobile models will be available in the third quarter of 2007 with an estimated retail price of EUR 400 for the Nokia 7900 Prism and EUR 210 for the Nokia 7500 Prism, before taxes and subsidies.

Nokia Prism collection is highlighted by cutting-edge colors, materials and graphics. Its signature diamond-cut design, featuring sharp angled lines, geometric patterns and graphic light-refracting colors, ensure these models stand out in the mobile phone market.

Nokia 7900 Prism
Opposite its sleek, liquorice-black front, the Nokia 7900 Prism comes with an anodized aluminium backcover, which is coin-stamped and laser-etched in Nokia Prism's signature diamond-cut design. Its design is amongst the first to feature an Organic LED main display that supports up to 16 million colors and displays light-focused screensaver graphics. In addition, the Nokia 7900 Prism features a "living wallpaper", which subtly changes throughout the day according to time as well as battery and signal strength, so that each screen is unique.

For greater personalization, the Nokia 7900 Prism offers a gallery choice of 49 illumination colors. Once selected, this color radiates from under the graphic key-mat as well as from the LED display. Lights are also emitted from the top of the phone to signal missed calls and messages.

The Nokia 7900 Prism features dual band 3G technology for fast and easy downloads and browsing, and quad band GSM capability for worldwide connectivity. In addition to a 2 Mpx camera, the Nokia 7900 Prism comes with 1GB of internal memory for lots of pictures, video, contacts and more.

Nokia 7500 Prism
The Nokia 7500 Prism is the Nokia 7900 Prism's quirky sibling. The Nokia 7500 Prism's slick black exterior is spliced with bright, interchangeable color accents. The Nokia 7500 Prism has a 2 Mpx camera and it can record high quality movies. The Nokia 7500 Prism can play music for nine hours and hold up to 1500 songs on an optional 2 GB microSD card.

What crap! Ha ha!....

Blokia on Aug 07 2007

It's a joke. Surely it's a joke. Someone was on some serious drugs. Ugly - reminds me of the rubics snake.

mongoose3800 on Aug 07 2007

If this was an SE you would all loved it and want it.

santa on Aug 07 2007

Santa, not everyone tat uses this site is an SE fan-boy. i love SE phones but i also love other phones that look great and offer great features (HTC Touch my current fave). Some of us use this site because we appreciate that SE make some of the best phones around in terms of refinement and build quality, but also in terms of features and design. Nokia have made some of the ugliest, rushed and unstable phones in the market over the last few years and these 2 are testament to that. i wish Nokia would change their marketing stratagy and just produce 5-10 really well made handsets every year instead of flooding the market with 30-40 rushed, under developed and poorly designed handsets like they do at the moment. this is my only gripe with them.

Gerry on Aug 07 2007

ugly!!!!!!

jet on Aug 07 2007

i agree with santa. the majority of users on this site are SE corporate back slapping lovers!!! message to Gerry you start the your comments claiming that you are not one of these people, then go on to say "i love SE". how sad is that? do you REALLY love a company that much that you will give your spare time to defend their honour on a forum? and if you think your claim of SE making "really well handsets" are correct. i have 1 letter and 3 numbers for you.... P990!

Here is a word of advice to you.. stop this brand loyalty cr*p!!!
For technology to move forward. we do not want companies resting on their laurels due to the fact that they know saps like you will STILL buy their products regardless how good or bad they are.
p.s. this is not personal by the way.

PE on Aug 07 2007

isn't it a bit late to be mentioning this?

amnesia on Aug 07 2007

i like the 7900 and its something different, you havent seen anything else out there like it.

donjuan on Aug 07 2007

no if this was from SE I still wouldn't like it. It's not really a choice between one of these and a Samsung.

ad on Aug 07 2007

MY EYES! THE HORROR! I CAN'T UNSEE IT!!

Levo75 on Aug 07 2007

while nokia is expermenting on diff shape and design.. your beloved SE is stuck with stupid ugly box.

SEsuq on Aug 07 2007

well if this were a Se phone i am very sure that you won't read an SE fanatic say here that those phones are ugly. typical SE fanatics who only think that SE phones are the greatest. PATHETIC FANATICS!

duh on Aug 07 2007

|\| () K I /-\ ?? O my God!!! Did the R&D team get money for this work?!?

Victor on Aug 07 2007

Uuuuuuugly, horrible desing

Raptor on Aug 08 2007

PE, you have me all wrong. my point was that i love SE, but no more than other manufacturers. my last 3 phones have been SPV M600, Nokia N80 and SE P990i. my next will be either the iPhone or HTC Touch (but could be the P1i due to lack of qwerty and 3G in the other 2). just because i say i love a particular brand doesnt mean i dont love others. in my experience, Nokia has been very poor for a while now (i've owned 3 S60's) and my views on them are based on facts and first hand experience. you may say that the P990 was problematic, but what phone isn't when first released? After 3 or 4 firmware updates, the P990 is now a very stable phone indeed. it may be under spec'd compared to the N95, but what it lacks in mega-pixels and HSDPA, it more than makes up for with a full QWERTY keyboard, a large touch screen and a fantastic user interface in the shape of UIQ3. SE are still behind the times with the P1i but it still has no serious competiters. S60's are the only real rival of the P series but they dont have touch screens let alone QWERTY keyboards. i think it's almost laughable that they can even be considered smart phones.

Gerry on Aug 08 2007

Bold, unique, different, innovative and certainly looks very fashionable. It's not a phone for the faint of heart, it's for people who would want to stand out from a crowd. It's better than SE's mundane "Emotional" series. Looks aside, it's definitely blows SE out of the water with the amount of tech, YET AGAIN!!! Well Done Nokia!

Slip on Aug 08 2007

Pass me the bucket *pukes*

Chad on Aug 08 2007

Looks like it will fall apart. This is bad taste man.

Phat on Aug 08 2007

I'm not sure if it's the less intense prism usage but i prefer the 7900 over the 7500.
7500 looks pretty nasty to me.
Oh yeah and the pink works well.

zakc on Aug 08 2007

too ugly....

aris on Aug 08 2007

mmmm...... good for designer indian WC!!!

goutam on Aug 08 2007

the person who designed this smoked crack XD

Freezeurazz on Aug 09 2007

These two Nokias have fancy good design as the previous one prism, but the features... seem too outdated to me... Anyway for people who like more the design of the phone than the features these models are awesome.

strizlow800 on Aug 09 2007

lepo,nema sta!samo napred!

igor on Aug 09 2007

Wouldn't the keypad be a bit confusing to use?... I mean... just staring at it makes you feel a bit dizzy.

NightBlade on Aug 09 2007

"If this was an SE you would all loved it and want it.
By santa on 7 Aug 15:00"

No we wouldn`t, hideous.

HAJLAJ on Aug 09 2007

if design is what you're after, try looking at the LG designer range. the Prada, Chocolate and Shine in particular. the HTC Touch and iPhone are also way more attractive both in looks and functions compared to these new Nokia. also, for what it's worth, i have to agree with Gerry on what he says about Nokia. every year i keep buying Nokia phones, believing they're going to get better, but they simply dont. i'm seriously considering SE as my prefered brand.

Colt on Aug 09 2007

NokiaSucks on Aug 15 2007

nokia 7900 sound such like a goat crying some were really this phone also make fool like n95....................................................................................so just wait & watch .

harshvardhanchikupat on Aug 15 2007

i think it looks quite stylish and original for a candybar.
it's a good job SE-and-their-team-of-designers-on-sleeping-tablets didn't design it because it would just look like every other sony ericsson. and we all know how inventive and bland that is.

Brightspark on Aug 19 2007

this is insane. i hate the design, and by looking at the handset, you could imagine how inconvenient to use and press its keypads.

the organic LED screen may bring some new light to its boring exterior design, but overall it still sucks!

Arman on Aug 19 2007

last time wen i was doing potty i saw this one in my potty chair ... this really sucks man wat has happened to nokia man

samid on Aug 21 2007

guys please, be a bit professional, to tell the truth... nokia really blew it this time... i use an SE and this just proves a point ive been tryin to tell people about... this is not sumthing you would go out and buy, honestly, when i saw it i forwarded my brother the link so he can laugh with me... but seriously, SE is THE way to go...and thank you very much gery... u r very right... they make too many scruffy phones rather than stickin to smaller numbers and better models

thusi on Aug 21 2007

holy shit!! wat a shit design and can the buttons get any smaller than that :| but wat do u expect from a shitty ,untrustworthy and exploding nokias (on which im refering to the nokia phones that actually got sent on fire by it self) SE r the way to go and also samsung or LG

ben on Aug 24 2007

oh my gosh!
with a good style and new looks!
