Sony Ericsson announces the W200 entry level Walkman phone8 January 2007 by Olav Hellesø-Knutsen
With the W200 Walkman® phone you can store up to 37 full length tracks* (or about four albums) and it’s easy to replace them when it’s time for a change. Simply transfer music from your PC with the Disc2Phone music management software supplied. This latest addition to Sony Ericsson’s musical family will be available in two renowned Walkman® phone colours (Rhythm Black & Pulse White) and has stamina for up to 18 hours of music listening. So you can be sure that your favourite tracks are always with you! "The W200 is an affordable music phone that compliments your existing MP3 player," says Steve Walker, Head of Product Marketing at Sony Ericsson. "It's not everyday that you want to carry lots of devices with you; and with the W200 you have enough music storage for your current playlist. And if you tire of these, the FM Radio allows you to quickly tune-in to your favourite drive-time show." To make it easy to get to your music, the W200 features a dedicated Walkman® key that takes you straight to the Walkman player menu. If you need to share your music with friends then the 128MB Memory Stick Micro™ (M2™) lets you do this in an instant. And it is always possible to upgrade to a larger Memory Stick if you need to expand your music library: the 1GB Stick available now will hold up to 255 full-length tracks. If you want to catch up with the news or listen to your favourite DJ, then the FM Radio allows you to pre-set up to 20 of your favourite stations. Listen-in via the colour-matched Stereo Headset HPM-64; the first to feature Bass Reflex, an innovation that preserves audio quality when the bass is turned up. wow rocks, SE could make such cheaper walkman phones (than w300) in the market for LOW-END users, of course most probably not 4 us, but for others who are tight on budget

But drthug, SE is better than Nokia by far, SE appeal and advance, Nokia release whatever comes next even if there is not 1% difference with the occasional medium/high phone.

Nice use of K310 as a basic model to recycle for this. Good to see a solid basic handset that's proven itself re-used and a decent job made on the externals. Want to upgrade? Just buy a 1gig M2 card for the 100USD or whatever they cost. A lot cheaper than buying a W850 for your kids for xmas...

There's no blue tooth on this phone, the body sucks the only good thing about this phone is the STICK SLOT which is expandeable to 2G.Buy the w300 or nokia 6230

The phone has no bluetooth only infrared really what was SE thinking. I would be much better if the phone didnt have the card slot but for eg. 100 mb of internal memory as bluetooth is a key features. Many phones dont even come with infrared nowadays.
Also this phone greatly resembles the W800i, shame on you designers.

This phone features infrared. Thus it greatly resembles J200i. The joystick is also the same as in J200i. let me say you that ---- the joystick can be the only reason why u must not buy this phone. the joystick is pathetic and is sure to last only for about 8-10 months at max. What SE does will such poor quality phones is attract customers who cant afoord quality, but at the same time annoys customers who chanced to have bought such a phone and vow to never buy a SE phone in future...

omg! why so stupid comments? SEM wants to reach a young public with this phone, who cant afford to buy models like W810i. therefor they cant make this phone with bluetooth, and megapixel camera. But I aggree on one thing, and that is the joystick. SEM shouldn't make joysticks anymore (until they make phones with a superb joystick which works more than than 6-12 months). Besides that, this is a great phone!

JOYSTICKS WORK FINE I HAD A JOYSTICK ON MY OLD T68i IT WAS TOGGLED OVER 1,000,000 TIMES AND IT NOT MY MAIN PHONE ANY MORE BUT IT STILL WORKS FINE, IT WAS NEVER CLEANED OR SERVICED !!!

what the heck!! to those demanding more from this phone - please use your brain for godsake. For price/features perspective, this is way better than its competitors in the "MARKET" where it belongs. If we keep on asking for improvement in every aspect from a new phone, then the price will soar up. Sometimes use your brain unless you plan to sell it in the future and mark it "slightly used".
