MOTOMING a Best-Seller with over 2 Million Sold

28 November 2006 by axxxr

MOTOMING is the PDA handset of choice for mobile people in Greater China with 2 Million sold and Counting.

Motorola today announced that it has shipped 2 million MOTOMING units in Greater China, making the award-winning,elegantly designed handset the best selling smartphone in China, taking an unprecedented 50% of the country’s pen-based PDA market.

With its striking design and compact size MOTOMING was an immediate hit after its launch in March. The elegant MOTOMING exemplifies the classic understated prestige of Motorola's signature multimedia handsets, while its unique transparent flip-cover and three different
color choices appeal to an entirely new segment of young, style-conscious mobile consumers.

The phenomenal response from consumers has been echoed by awards for industrial design and technological achievement. Several prestigious design and industry associations have recognized MOTOMING for its unique design, especially the distinctive transparent single-piece
flip cover that allows viewing of the large display when closed.Equally important to designers is the fact that the unit assembles without visible screws or other fastenings that would detract from its appearance. In September, MOTOMING was granted the highly-acclaimed Outstanding Product Design award at the iF Design Awards China 2006, and in October, MOTOMING was named “Product of the Year" and given the top design award from the China Industry Design Association.

MOTOMING’s success comes from its exceptional design and powerful features. In addition to the transparent flip cover, MOTOMING boasts a large display, high-resolution two mega-pixel camera, a business card reader, an award-winning bilingual talking dictionary, and the most
advanced Chinese handwriting recognition software in the market. In soft-touch black, piano white and bold red, MOTOMING has become the defining "power accessory" for those mobile people who lead a truly visionary lifestyle.

The latest refresh of MOTOMING features all the superior functions that have made it a winner in the industry, but also includes a few new surprises inside. At the top of the list is a new push-email feature that is compliant with China Mobile’s service, enabling phone users to have emails delivered directly to their MOTOMING, rather than having to retrieve them. Other additions include built in “Air-Sync," making the MOTOMING capable of synching with Microsoft Exchange® for easy organization, and built-in QR Code software, which greatly simplifies the task of making entries into the handset’s address book and WAP sites. product page

300 million people in China?

There are 1.3 billion people in China.

As for the phone not having a keyboard. This is a pen-based phone, which suits the Chinese inputting style.

i have one right now! its the most sexiest PDA i ever had. i love the trunslucent cover i dont have to open the cover to take pic and listen to my mp3s. even when getting income message and call, second screen is no need as the screen itself is very large and crisp in color.

audio quality is very nice, good bass and loudness, camera is very acceptable.
its very stable and fast aswell.
this thing is one sexxy beast! i just love it.

You're right in saying that Units Shipped and Units Sold are not the same thing... However, if the handsets are being SHIPPED in such massive numbers then it's fair to assume they are going to sell in massive numbers too.

2 million handsets in one country and they're still being shipped... thats a hell of alot, and if they werent being sold to consumers then they wouldnt still be shipping the handsets.

As for the phone, it looks great, very functional, No need for a keypad when you have a stylus, handwriting is much faster than trying to type on a tiny keyboard.
