Hi Guys,

I was wondering if anyone could help me with my Mobile Office GPRS settings. I'm on Airtel Prepaid in Mumbai. Have downloaded the settings and installed em but I'm getting the error - Cannot connect to server, please check your settings.
Essentially, my phone is unable to make any GPRS connection including MMS, Airtel LIve. The "G" symbol keeps blinking but the connection never gets made.
I've tried calling up the customer service buggers but all in vain now. Can anyone pl post their GPRS settings for Mumbai. I'm using Nokia 3230.

Thanx in advance

Have you restarted the phone after receiving the settings?

Anybody from West Bengal who could answer a question for me?

It was stated in this thread that unlimited GPRS for Airtel Prepaid is possible. What about when roaming outside the home circle? Can I still use unlimited GPRS or is it then deactivated.
If that is really the case, which circles around West Bengal offer GPRS while roaming on prepiad. I'm traveling throughout India starting my trip in West Bengal. But I can wait a few days till i get to another circle and buy the Airtel Prepaid there, but I really need GPRS while roaming.
Any advice?

Bad news for Airtel Mumbai GPRS users:- Just got it confirmed from an Airtel GPRS Engineer that there is a bandwidth allocation problem, hence the slow speed on the EDGE network... They are aware and trying to resolve the problem... dunno it might take ages! and Airtel is talking about a 3G network here... a sad joke! They can't handle the EDGE bandwidth.
Thinking on moving to DSL/ Hutch maybe;)

@shivam, why're you tryin so hard to get it to work for free then... maybe it offers good speeds only to subscribers who pay for access

I just wanted to ask: is there a download limit for the PREPAID Airtel GPRS plan? I heard it is Rs. 5 /day . . . . is it the same as Mobile Office in POSTPAID WHICH is for for Rs.399?

Neha...I m using Airtel prepaid & ve activated Mobile Office. I pay INR 12/day unlimited upload/download & get download speeds of 20-25 KB/sec on an Class 10 EDGE enabled blokia 6681 connected 2 my laptop...trust me they don't ve limited download (even if the cc tell U they ve, as they told me but got it cleared through the GPRS tec that they don't) as I m downloading 24hrs a day...I ve downloaded more than 10 GB in less than a month & I ve not been charged more than 360 bucks. Only problem is that they share the ip with I don't howmany users & that makes it difficult downloading from sites like Rapidshare etc...other wise no problemo...infact I m quite satisfied with it. has33 that was a nice reply. ALL i want to know now is how you pay RS 12 per day when some in Mumbai itself pay RS 5 per day? Are your schemes different or is it Airtel's stupid strategy? Lastly are you an old or new customer? Coz they differentiate so.

Well Neha, I m new on Airtel...got it only last month when I was going 2 Kashmir & wanted gprs while roaming...but I researched throughly be4 going 4 Airtel & that 2 MobileOffice...U C I wanted a FAST (EDGE enabled) gprs connection 2 connect 2 my laptop specially when I m traveling. That Rs 5/day is 4 Airtel MMS (I think...that lets U surf all the sites on the phone but U cannot connect it 2 the a pc/lappy 2 surf. Also there is some charge per MMS & download.) which won't fullfill my needs & the free Airtel live with the spartan's hack isn't very stable & high speed is still not proven on it. Over that 360 bucks a month is nothing if I m getting 2 download more than 10 GB @ 25KB/s Also Airtel has this GOLD customer thingy in postpaid through which, even if U R new it will charge U 199/month 4 MobileOffice...but 2 be eligible U ve 2 ve high amount of outgoing calls OR U need 2 know people who work 4 Airtel [addsig]

Neha...just spoke 2 the GPRS tecnical department of Airtel...The Rs. 5/day is the MMS service which doesn't let U surf the net at all...nither on the phone nor on the PC...its only for sending MMS (national & local)...was also told that existing post paid customer r gonna be charged 199/month 4 mobile office (unlimited upload/download) & all the new postpaid customers will ve 2 pay 399/month 4 mobileoffice & only the first 1024MB (1GB) is free. While the prepaid customers will ve 2 continue paying 12/day Unlimited usage.
1 last thing...if U r gonna use the net only on the phone & U don't want limited usage, I would advise U 2 go 4 the BPLMobile's BPL Wap service...its only RS.49/month & lets U go 2 ne site U phone is capable of going (In case of my P910i it was all the sites...but other phone which don't ve a full html browser[non Series 60 or UIQ or Windows Mobile phones], it will be limited 2 only the sites which R viewable in xhtml) but can't connect it 2 the PC & can't set an email account 2 auto send/receive mails on the phone...although U can go 2 the xhtml pages of Yahoo/hotmail/Gmail to check/write Ur mails. Also remember that network reception of bplmobile ain't as good as Airtel or Hutch & GPRS is not active while roaming.
