try to run safe mode then do a system restore.

It could be that you installed a program that affected the file.

if i remember correctly ntldr is the windows xp boot screen, or splash screen. my brother had that problem once and a restart sorted it for some reason. if what amnesia said doesn't help go to www.cybertechhelp.com they are very helpful there.

Nasty little error that one

This sometimes works, but you'll need your XP disk:

Insert the Windows XP bootable CD into the computer. Configure bios to boot from the CD.
When prompted, press any key to boot from the CD.
Once in the Windows XP setup menu press the "R" key to repair Windows.

Log into your Windows installation by pressing the "1" key and pressing enter.
You might then be prompted for your administrator password, enter that password if you do. You'll only be asked for it if you (or whoever installed XP on the comp) set an administrator password.

Copy the two files below to the root directory of the primary hard disk. In the example below we are copying these files from the CD-ROM drive letter "D:". This letter may be different on your computer.

copy d:\i386\ntldr c:\
copy d:\i386\ntdetect.com c:\

Reboot and see what happens.

If that doesn't work, I'm afraid you're looking at either a repair reinstall or a full reinstall of XP
