My wife and I employed a Nanny who comes in daily to take care of our hyperactive 6 month old girl, Dee while we are at work.

Nanny called in sick this morning. Since I work from my home office, I am stuck with Dee for the day.

Here is a list of things I have done today:

1. changed diapers
2. mixed several rounds of baby cereal and formula
3. drove Dee round town on some official duties
4. tried every trick in the book, plus some, to get her to sleep
5. prayed to the Lord that this cup will pass over me on the double

Its only 2.30 pm now and my wife won't get home from work till around 7 pm. 4.5 more hours to go.

If i need to get the little one asleep i always have to rock the pram forwards and backwards, even when he is asleep cause he wakes up as soon as you stop.

A responsible father is naturally attached to his child, especially to a 6 months old baby. You are doing fine.:-)

Hey AYA it can't be all that bad. I love kids though...just tire her out, she should sleep in no time.

Believe me, I am enjoying the time spent together. Dee and I are really very fond of one another, and she's obviously not missing her mom or nanny any bit.

Its just, she is hyperactive, and I have to work. I have rocked, sang - done everything, but she won't sleep. Today of all days.

At times I wonder if these kids don't have a mind of their own

Dee's watching "Telly Tubbies" at the moment and she's obviously having so much fun.

Ah, some time to myself and some peace and quiet.
